I need to get some new fuel lines to run from my engine to just under the chassis... was thinking braided.

Can anyone list the specs of the normal hoses, i.e. fitment, inner bore etc?

Hoping to get push fit connectors as per original equipment.

would be helpful, cheers.

iirc the inner bore size was 8mm for the fuel lines

Inner diameter is 8mm, im 100% on that.

what do you mean push fit connectors..original had use once hose clamps..

ok well on the 182 it has a push fit connector that can go on and off as many times as u like.

the interface oin the fuel rail is the same.

is it for the 182 then?

summeh

nope its for the williams. I thought they had the same push fit connectors, but the interface on the fuel rails are both the same, i.e. a lip. so im sure you can get the connectors and it will work.

cant remember them being the same tbh but im sure you could buy some fittings somewere if need, or pos use some off a 182 but ditch the std hose

could do, ideally i would run braided all the way to the rail... if i did that i'd have to chop and join?

yeah, i run braided on my hybrid but mine are pushed straight into the rail and jubilee'd down, ok dont look as nice as it could but it works and never leaked(plus cheaper lol)

do they not foul on the bonnet where they bend over? (oh er)

richy
24-05-2009, 01:11
nope, mine also dont in the normal route, as my fuel lines run internally under the passenger seat area etc

they pass through he bulkhead under the dash

can u get a pic for me mate please? if i can i might just jubilee the braided to the rail then. i was worried about them bending over and kinking or something.

yeah mine are the same..can use aerospace type ends with an internal hose clip to make then look better or just upgrade to aerospace fittings like snowman did..

The plastic fuel rail used push on clips.

You want about 2.5m of 8mm 5/16 high pressure hose.

Feed line is about 1m

Return is about 1.20m

You can use jubilee's to connect them, or hose clamps, some options here:

OR if you wanr be really fancy:

Above pic is the utterly mint 'bay of Snowman's car.

The fuel rail is helicoilied so adaptors can be fitted for the aeroquip connectors, found here:

I think you can get adapters to go from a threaded style to push fit, so might try and locate them... easiest option would just be cut some threads on the fuel rail and use aeroquip speedflow connectors directly, so might just do that. would be cheaper as well.

If you start putting fancy connectors on all the lines pretty soon youve spent 250 quid for no performace gain.

Who said anything about doing it for a performance gain?

This is just to tidy it up and make it look prettier.

But aye, this isn't for performance, obviously :)

No need to heli-coil the fuel rail, just cut off the standard tail connectors, and tap the remaining body to accept the -6 unions.

Too right, I drool looking at the 'bay of his. One day I may even clean mine in a vain effort to be as shiny as that :)
