View Full Version : Williams JC5 Gearbox - 107k - £20 COLLECTED

I have a Williams JC5 Gearbox in my garage.

Came with the willy engine i bought which is now in my hybrid.

Had the engine in for a few days and the gearbox was nice and smooth, didn't whine, but had a slight leak from the diff seal.

Since then, i've replaced the seal with a brand new seal from Renault. At the same time, i tried to replace the plastic speedo shaft, but when i pulled it out the little worm wheel that drives it moved and i can't see it in the hole.

So, currently the box has no speedo drive. I've shaken the box and i can't hear anything rattling inside, and it still turns freely.

If you're not bothered about a speedo then you can use this box without a probem.

Selling cheap as i can't imagine it being much good without a speedo drive, so would benefit from a rebuild. The internals are good though so might be useful for someone.

None of my rally cars have a speedo dial in them and havnt for years, it makes no difference if you dont want to use a speedo.

No, but the fact the speedo drive gear is AWOL may be an issue.

Not really the one in 0020s gearbox has been fitted and then cut off at the gearbox end. Rally cars dont run speedos as the diffs are usually modified and would give erroneous readings anyway. I would have given you way more than 20 quid for this box as it was.

Well someone 'might' be coming to collect at the weekend.

I'm not offering 'dibs' on the gearbox, i need the room and want it gone.

The first person that turns up with £20 can take it.

Hardly trashed your thread as you sold yours and there were a few people after one hence the post.
