When fitting rear arches from a standard 'narrow body' clio to a 16v how easy is it for the bodyshop to get a perfect match. I understand they have to flare it out to match the wider arches but will it be exact or can it all go tits up?

They tend to only se the lip part so it makes no real difference. Most of the new panel is discarded and they keep most of the old panel as it is.

trust me from someone who's done it it will never look correct, they can flare it out fine but the curve of the arch towards the rear bumper is totally different on 16v/willys than lower spec models.

I wouldnt recommend using the fiberglass rear quarters they tend to flex and crack and attaching them are a nightmare. Best off using genuine rear quarters at £310 a side or non 16v rear arches and cut and shut um to fit they will look better than the fiberglass ones when you get 2 or 3 years of use on them.

i think they were 378 + vat from renault..but i think they have gone up along with everything else thanks to a weak pound..

i was quoted £310 plus vat last summer from crystal renno in boston, linconshire. This was last summer though so the price could have gone up since then.
Glad to hear people have had sucess with the fibreglass panels from the ropey few ive seen done in the past it has put me off from using them.

Just out of interest, why is it that williams and valvers seem to rust so much worse than the base models? It so annoying when every time i see a 1.2 its got perfect sills and arches!

INJUSTICE!

there are few basic models of the same age on the road. Therefore there are proportionally more older ones.

Well my rear arches are looking alot worse for wear ATM.

I have 3 options really:

1) Just get them both repaired again
2) Buy completely new rear arch panels from Renault
3) Get a new car, lol.

Talking to the guys in the bodyshop and they said it looks like mine has had a full new rear quarter in the past. So thats a good thing but the join in the sill is beginning to become weak and im going to need to replace it.
