Been trying to search for the above box info, fed up trawling!! I need a replacement box for my willy 3.

Can anyone answer me the following?

What is the difference in real terms compared to a willy box - Ratio, strength - does it use tapered roller bearings like the willy box? Would it be possible to rebuild it with my existing willy internals? i.e. is the casing the same?

Lastly - what would you pay for one, max price?

Thanks

G

What gearbox software do you use? I made a gear ratio calculator for the Hungarian Renault Club (with more than 270 gearbox), but that also doesn't know the JC5-091 (I used the gearbox.pdf, taken from Dialogys)

Unfortunately I could not get more Renault gearbox data. Please, let me know if somebody has the missing ratios, I would like to update the gearbox database. Cheers

Def a 091, all the guy told me was that he thinks its off a megane and it was a S reg!!

Prob is he wants £200 notes, thats what i'd pay for a 014 if in good nick so I think its a bit steep and if it is a megane what are the ratios like? Can my original 014 salvagable internals be rebuilt into it?

maybe.. but if its a megane the top gearbox mounting may also be wrong..

and ratios are more dependant on what engine it was fitted too

lower ratios on small engines higher on 2.0 litres

and lower on the low revving diesels..

ok thanks, last question - I reckon i have popped the circlip after doing a bit more research as i have the roller bearings on the deck that point to it. Does popping the circlip usually knacker the box? i.e does it render the box un-refurbishable (is that a word)?

no if you get it rebuilt you could upgrade get the diff drilled a fit a 182 bolt in circlip..

I've got a JC5 091 box on my hybrid (Williams F7R engine)

Came from a Megane F7R.

5th gear is suprisingly short. Tops out at around 135mph on the clocks sat at the 6,500RPM stock limiter.

It doesn't take long to get there and it's very easy to hit the limiter in 5th!
