My cars used to be insured from the point of physically going on board ship till rolling off. I thought that was standard FOB terms?

they took photos of the crating. they nailed the wood together instead of screwing it and the nails dropped with the weight and caused the rubbing on the roof, slight dent but fixable.

the windscreen. i cannot believe. they stock mk1 clio windscreens. i thought i would be spunking £490 on freight alone.

there is a god. somewhere.

sorry i couldnt take more glorious photos, but the quarrantine inspection people are being cunts and wont inspect it until the windscreen is fixed.

one bloke at the freight movals was well chuffed. he said "fookin nice car ya got there mate". i said "it used to be"....

i still need a guide if anybody can help !

ive joined that website, but i dont have the secret handshake to let me in to that bit.

$550 bucks for a windscreen that is being replaced at 2.30am your time.

i will be over the moon if they do indeed have the right windscreens over here.

all i need now is to go see the renault specialists to see if they can sort my roof out. and if i ask nicely ive a scratch on passenger door and the bonnet has a big stone chip in it.

then prop the rear end back up to how it should be, and northy can have his pictures pictures pictures!

Raising the rear is easy mate.

It's late and I am about to go to bed, but here is a very quick guide:

Park car on level ground.
Loosen rear wheel bolts.
Jack rear up on both sides.
Remove wheels.
Build home-made torsion bar puller (see below).
Measure distance from hub to ground on both sides, take notes
Pop torsion bar plastic end caps off.
You should be able the see a threaded insert in the ends of the bars, this is for the puller tool you will have made up.
Spray liberally with penetrative spray or WD40 on exposed ends of torsion bar
Have a cup of tea (or Castlemane XXXX over there).
Use special torsion bar puller to yoink the bars out (there's two, you can see where they meet at the middle) so the splines are fully exposed.
The rear beam will have dropped lower without support from the bars.
Using the previous measurements, re-measure the clearance from hub to ground, work out how much you want to raise the rear.
Using a jack on the rear arm, jack to the height you want it to be on the rear, based on measurements and what the car was at prior to adjustment. Make sure you jack the flat metal beam not the axle point, you'll see the rear beam lifting up, if you jack the wrong bit the whole car will lift.
At the preferred height, get under the car and slide the torsion bars back into place. This may be tricky as they will not go in at certain points, so finer adjustment may be needed. Do NOT batter them in, they should more or less slide in part of the way. It may be worth greasing the splines up a bit. It is normal for it to be a bit fiddly to find the right height for the bars to go in again, keep measuring the ground to hub clearance to ensure adjustments don’t set you back to the old height!

A 32/34 mm socket, M10 long thread bolt and nut, with washer on the end. Screw bolt into the bar, turn nut to exert pressure onto the washer and ergo the bar itself. It should pop out, and on its journey will likely make a lot of clonking/thuds as the pressure forces it free.

Very basic guide, but once you've had a good look it's a piece of piss.

Right, I am off to bed! The others can fill in any gaps in my info. Good luck!
