Ok after many attempts at trying to remove my rear beam compliance bushes I have given up.

Can they be removed easily by most garages?

Where can new bushes be obtained from as Renault don't seem to do them seperatley?

Hacksaw through the outer ring but dont score the bush housing. make two cuts and take around 10mm out. I used my saber saw & it worked a treat. Then just work around it with a chisel getting it to knock in.

Should work

If not, i also made a jig out of different sized tubings. to make a DIY press, if you wish to call it that.

Then i bought this a couple of months ago, that just laughs at bearings! Top stuff!

If you've lost all motorvation, then a garage will usually press out for £10 or £15 if you take the section into them.

most garages i know wont even touch it ,you are better of doing it
yourself .
reno dealers dont know much unless you give them part numbers
i got the part number somewhere
for renault 9 bushes which i guess is same as clio ones .
i will dig it out for you :D

Well looks like I have a fun weekend ahead then trying to remove them without causing any damage. Problem is I really don't seem to have the right tools.

Would that hydraulic puller kit do the trick? How would you assemble it so it pulls the arm off the beam and then the bush out of the arm?

Schakal if you could get me the Renault part number that would be a great help thanks.

Think I have already seen the photos on one of the many other rear beam related topics i've started!! Very nice rebuild it is as well.

Post some piks up.

When i've worked on them in the past i've always unhinged one side at a time and lever it down just enough so you can work. Then remove the bush, light greese and pull the new one in then continue onto the other side. But unhinging it is usually pretty simple.

What are the part numbers ?

Did anyone find the bearing that could be used as the competition option ??? everyone talks about it but no details.....

I'm still looking into the bearing option but for now need to get my car back on the road, so if anyone does know the renault part number for these bushes or where else I can get them from that would be a great help.

Also the ones that schakal uses on his rebuild look slightly different to the ones on my beam as they have a rubber cover that goes between the arm and beam.

That kit is only for the front bushes and does not include the rear beam bushes.

Excellent will order myself two of those and butcher the old ones out at the weekend. I can finally get the beam down to the shot blaster and powder coaters then.

Also managed to shear off both aux fuel tank bolts today

Just love working with these old rusty cars :D
