View Full Version : National Williamsclio Run

Been thinking today, why not have a run for all williamsclio?? We could meet somewhere fairly central (was thinking somewhere near Corby's Rockingham Raceway) meet on a Saturday night, have a couple of beers, stop in a Travelodge or whatever and do a run on the Sunday. I have one in mind but would like to gauge reaction to the idea first. Just thinking that it may put some of our members in touch with their area reps and other regional runs could sprout from there. Anyways, only an idea but what do you lot think???

Excellent idea! :D

MrAtego
06-07-2005, 20:15
Just to add, can we keep it to Williamsclio members only, otherwise the run will get too big. Also, thought about what you said Martin, yes, it will probably be a good idea to split it, maybe one group do the run one way, the other does it the other way, meet halfway for scran, then carry on!

richy

gonna say last thing u want is both runs heading toward each other at high speeds and overtaking etc will may mayhem!!!

Sounds good.

I also think a meet in scotland over a couple of days would be good. Rent a lodge or two and all that jazz.

MrAtego

Right, sorted a rough route out, at the moment its 100 mile, is this too long??? Route is roughly, Start at Rockingham, run upto Stamford via Thorpe by water. From there it is upto Bourne, Old Somerby, Grantham (lunch stop) Melton Mowbray, Thorpe Satchville, Market Harborough then back to rockingham. Total mileage according to AA website 99.6 miles.

What do you think???

richy
08-07-2005, 20:43
100mile!!! jeez dont think my car is capable of so much at once lol needs breaks etc

MrAtego
08-07-2005, 21:03
Don't forget mate, 100 mile at the rate of knots we someimes travel at!!! run will still be over in 4 hours even if we drag it out!!! PLus there are plenty A roads close by if it does drag on, the A1 or A6 are never far away.

Just to add, when I mean williams clio members only peeps like GeeUK and all other regulars from all regions are more than welcome to come its just that I wouldn't like this to turn into a national Cliosport thing as well as we would definately have too many. Nice to see all the NW lads coming, be nice to have more interest from the rest of the country!! You up for this fatboy???

Right, the above hotel is fully booked on the 25th Sept, so I'm going to try and find another place!! Will try and find a Premier Lodge or something similar, will let you know.

MrAtego
15-07-2005, 23:42
Right, just spent most of tonight looking for hotels and its looking as though, as there are so many of us, thats its going to be something like a travel lodge. Only trouble is these are very pricey (ie £46 per room) so we can go down this route or maybe camp??? Unless someone fromthe mid;ands area knows a hotel I may have missed!!

Can't really afford any big meets that involve staying over anywhere, but I know of a nice group of lodges in Schottland should anyone wish to go next year.

Dead affordable as well.
