Okay, the question on anyone who's interested lips is: "so what's it like"
Simple answer is... AMAZING!

Forget the install itself for a moment, that's incredible and can be seen in the other thread, so how does it drive?

Set off to South Wales today for a friends birthday, so had a good mix of motorway and A/B road blasts. I've only covered 100 miles, but these are the most fun miles I have ever done, and half of them were from the passenger seat with Danny driving!

The first 20 miles I drove were just normal speeds on regular roads, so I stuck to all the limits and never hit full throttle... reason being that simply touching the pedal where a normal car would overrun, it just ****s off alarmingly quick. Once I got onto the motorway I decided to get it into 2nd on the slip road and give it some and the power was instantly there and I was upto silly speeds before I knew it... oops, better back off a bit! It's a bit of a shock to the system as it accelerates faster than I was expecting, but the delivery was amazingly smooth and it didn't break traction once... which is promising!

Onto the motorway and overtaking is simply effortless as the power is just there and it's instant and builds very smoothly and insanely quick... Tickle the throttle on the overrun point and again, it just hooks up and ****s off! I'd honestly say that slightly accelerating in 5th was a fair bit quicker than dropping it into 4th and pinning it when it was on ITB's, which is simply astonishing! 3rd gear at low rpm feels quicker than 2nd used to be, but the crazy thing is that EVERY gear is usable and while it's very quick, it's still easy to drive and even MPG was decent! It used practically no fuel going there, so I gave Dan the green light to thrash the crap out of it on the way back... well abuse it he did (good man!!!) and it still managed over 100 miles from half a tank :D

Sadly we didn't get any boy racer types to play with on the way back and had resigned ourselves to the fact that it just wasn't going to happen... que Mr Moneybags in his 350bhp rep mobile... toyed with and dispatched with relative ease, then again we were just playing with him in 5th when 4th was also available to use :)

All in all made up! Whenever I put my foot down it went from 6 to midnight and it's simply a pleasure to drive! I've still got adrenaline running through me now, it really is a rush, but I cant begin to explain how much of a giant killer it now is... with ITB's I loved it and it was VERY quick, now it's simply mind blowingly quick with such a nice delivery so it's not (that) scary. Watching the needle move is quite amusing also, the speedo moves as fast as the rev counter lol.

The usual suspects will get to see it soon enough and some even drive it... I'll let them post a report as obviously mine will be seen as biased by a cynical few, but it's absolutely brilliant and I couldn't be happier... oh, I no longer want 400bhp either, it's brutally fast as it is to be honest!

 Its amazing how figures soon get put in to perspective. when you finally drive them...400bhp would be silly!!

Sounds like your chuffed to bits with it...good effort.

Where in Wales did you end up?

No need to get defensive, a cost and performance comparison with flans car would be of interest to others im sure.

as said, pipe down or you're gone, it's really that simple. Your trolling is very transparent, no matter what spin you may put on it.

yeah because flans wouldn't cost about 10k if done professionally..

so there no comparative between the two in my opinion.

It does look a very tidy piece of kit, im impressed.

Whats the score if you want more power, is it just alter the map for more power or would it need more mechanical work, obviously ignoring the issue of crappy gearboxes, not holding the power.

J o n
20-04-2009, 10:40
yeah it's very tidy, all of Richard's (Mr Omex himself) motorsport mates were ultra impressed on Sunday when I went round for his wife's birthday bash. Got a mag feature for it again too lol.

If I want more power I can up the boost, but it will start having reliability issues, so will rebuild the bottom end with forged rods and pistons and run a bit more boost. Not going to do too much now though, 300bhp will be plenty tbh, but you can easily run a lot more lol

Sounds Epic........on the other side of the coin...how did your brakes cope?.........also engine temp

Sounds amazing, are you still doing the EVO triangle run in June jesus? Wouldn't mind a passenger run in the beast if you are.... :D

J o n
20-04-2009, 19:03
brakes were fine col, using Brembo HC's and 1144 pads which deffo do the job. 4 pots are a bit overkill at this stage imo

Tomma, certainly am mate, not done it before so really looking forward to it :D

Might have to take petrol donations for all these passenger blasts the rate the injectors fire fuel at high duty! PMSL

I'm way out the loop here John but who did the work for you and what's the full setup?

Still wish for a supercharged motor myself.

J o n
04-05-2009, 23:54
bloody hell Mike, long time no see!

Work was done as always by GDI/Omex :)

Not much of a spec list really, it's still on the standard old 100k engine, box and clutch lol. So, just Rotrex charger, intercooler, injectors, omex600, custom brackets and some other bits I forgot.

Cool, so what's it pushing out d'you reckon?

Think GDI are on the case with doing a s/c 197 kit as well.

J o n
05-05-2009, 00:25
It's made 260bhp and 220lbs/ft.

100bhp up on standard pretty much :)

Think they are doing one, or at least will be doing one soon, I'm over the moon with it. We'll have to meet up, you doing the peaks run on the 17th?

Daz.
05-05-2009, 07:10
Can't believe theres still no price for this yet!

I'm still hoping tons of people get it done and retain the aircon to bring the prices down on that super bracket thingy!

J o n
05-05-2009, 10:22
cant see that making any difference Daz... it's machine time costs, dont think it can be done any cheaper, sure Dan or Andy can confirm though. I dont mind losing aircon for 100bhp up on standard! ;)

Can't be bothered with the peaks anymore mate. Ruined by the police. Could always meet up on lunch or after work one day though. I'm still in Wilmslow.

J o n
05-05-2009, 14:08
yeah it is bad up there now, been over a couple of times recently and there was camera vans palced about the area, other time I got to play with a Scooby and a few bikers lol

I'm in Wilmslow still as well dude, we could meet up for lunch this week or I'm free Friday after work (Wednesday I goto the rents, Thursday I have a date lol)
