View Full Version : Oil level gauage reading lower then dipstick?

My oil level gauge always says my oil is halfway or below when i start the car even though it is defo on max on the dipstick? Any ideas? And no its not because i am checking this after the car has been running, this happens even when car has been left sitting overnight!

This used to happen occasionally on my old one. If you turn the ignition back on and off it used to flick straight to the top.

When all said and done just pay attention to the dipstick.

your gauge may be faulty.......or........have you got the right dipstick for the car?....ye really it happens !

surely not?! well if soemone could perhaps measure their dipstick for me? :wink:

as far as i aware they much the sump type fitted..iirc..

so not really dependant just on length.
