Skimmed 1mm? Isn't that quite a lot? I'm sure some of the engineers on here may be able to do the math...I can't! I'd just slap it on and pray :D

that does sound a lot...........a couple of thou..maybe....but 1 mill?.

lets hope he didnt do it with an angle grinder!

ps one way to check volume...put valves in fill up chamber with water...put a piece of polycabonate on top..to level.. suck liquid from chamber with syringe...an measure liquid in syringe or measure jug!

55cc i think is about standard, i'll have to look through some notes in the workshop.

skimming 1mm isnt a problem, just remember to check valve/piston clearance, and re-time your cams.

yes
1998/4 = 499,5
499.5/10-1 = 55.5

cr =10 499,5+55.5/55.5 =10
notice that 55.5 is total incl headgasket and volyme in piston..

I only needed this info for some calculations. My head is where it should be, in the engine bay. That is why I couldn't measure it.

I don't think that my head is skimmed 1mm, but it was renewd few times in the past so I guess it's at least 0.5mm lower then standard. That 1mm is just to be safe.

I'll revive this thread a bit.

I'm doing some calculations on my new CR with Wossner pistons.

- Can anybody tell me what is the volume of the depression on the stock piston?

- How thick is standard gasket when compressed and what bore does it have?

- You could spare me a lot of calculations if anyone know actual chamber volume without piston and gasket volume?

Tnx!

dont you have stock pistons?
dont you know cr on wössner pistons
about 1,4 and 83mm

Eh, long story... My block is decked and I have wossner pistons with 11.2:1 CR, but I calculated yesterday that my actual CR is more like 10.5:1 . I need this info just to verify my calculations. This is why I also need stock piston volume, so I can calculate pure chamber volume.

Just measured a std william head for you, 48cc. This wont be 100% accurate as it was with a syringe (my beurette is broken), but it will be close enough.

Ive got 1.1mm written down here for crushed HG thickness.
