Despite previous advice from the forum, are not the same, please do not do what I did and spend a month rebuilding the font suspension of your car only to find that it is toed out so badly that it is undrivable.

The definitive answer, for anyone who asks if they can use valver hubs on a Williams is NO.

erm, i used valver hubs on my williams suspension? as have many people.

IIRC they share the same part number :?

Presumably you had to use longer track rod ends? That would change the original geometry of the car. There is no other explanation for my situation, I have changed my hubs, track rod ends and lower ball joints, the track rod ends are the same as the ones I took off, same length etc, but are not long enough to rectify the toe out of the car.

So are you saying that you have put Williams hubs on now and it has cured the toe problem? The track of a Williams is wider than a valver so you do need longer track rod ends or wind out the existing ones further.

no i just wound the rods out to suit the extra track width and had it tracked.

only thing i can suggest is one of your hubs are bent, wether it be the new ones or the old

I only got her back from the attempted tracking today, but I think I may have narrowed down the problem, If the 16v and Williams hubs are the same then my problem is that the lower ball joint arms on my new set are to long.

but surely you'd have the problem with both sets of hubs not just the valver ones ?

can you compare the ball joints also as i would doubt these are wrong...

I reckon someones fitted 16v track rods in the past and not had it tracked, then your mechanic doesn't want to wind them out as far as they need as it doesn't leave a lot of thread in the rod.

It will track up as lots of people have done it, me included. Try another garage.

Nope, the track rods are brand new, Williams ones. The ball joints are fine. It is the hubs that are different. The angle of the steering arm on the Williams 1 hubs and the 16V hubs I have are different. This was confirmed today by a trip to the local renault specialist today, and a delve into the parts book. There are "Various" hubs across the clio range and the Williams 1 hubs are specific.

did you buy the hubs from a breaker??because i know that if the hubs are from a mk1 1.2 or 1.4 the toe out is huge and undrivable

willy and valver hubs are the same...parts book are wrong..

as above sounds like a smaller engined hub..

The hubs were purchased from a club member, who has owned various fast Clio's including Williams, and 16V. They were removed from a 16v by him.
