I have just replaced my carpet in my williams, taking the centre consol out i was looking as the gear stick and you can see it has a small amount of play where the plastic ball sits in its cup. its only a small amount of play but is this how they are supposed to be or should they be a tight fit?? Thanks. :? :?:
most have as there now ten years old...
don't think they did when very new...have upgraded to a new quickshift in mine..
Under the car there is a tension spring connected tothe bottom of the gear lever. It's under a heatshield. These can get old and crapped up easily, or be broken. Makes the level wobble and not return to its 'neutral' position.
I have plastic collars (Stiff Shift) for replacing the sloppy, rubber ball joint housing. There is a video about the collars (before and after installing):
