Hi,

I'm soon to be the owner of a Williams 2, Daz.'s to be infact, and am after some insurance help! :)

The Willy is to be a second car so I've been looking around for a limited mileage policy, probably no more than 3000 a year and maybe someone that will take into account my NCB on my main car policy.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've tried Adrian Flux and Performance Direct but are there any other recommended specialists?

Cheers

HIC where the best for me on a classic policy

i had both mine insured by norwich union. they took into account my ncb on the main car, and matched the price of that onto the 2nd car.

HIC have been good for me too (but not on a classic policy), plus you can do agreed value :)

Avoid Adrian Flux like the plague if you want any sort of customer service :x

Who are you currently with?
Admiral/Elephant/Bell group will match your NCB on a 2nd car.

I've alternated with Elephant/Admiral for the last few years but switched to Greenlight in December, doh!

I've got an OK quote from HIC, not the cheapest but it does include unlimited track cover apparently ... hmmm, not sure I was planning on tracking the Willy mind :?

Will keep looking ...

good choice with daz's clio!

i agree with white16valver, avoid flux, they're a terrible company when it comes to any problems.

HIC Track cover has like a £1k excess anyway so it's not really worth it lol (well, not for mine! :()

That's a very good point actually, although the chap on the phone said the excess was £500 if you had experience of trackdays, I've done a few before but not for a few years. Hmm.

I think Performance Direct are coming out cheapest so far, anyone had experience with them?

And wierdly they made me laugh out loud at my quote - and we're what 5-6 miles apart?

I had to go through flux to get the Equity Red Star insurance, once your actually past flux you can ignore them - only thing you ring them for is changing the policy everything else (well for me, went through Red Star..

I extended the insurance of the williams through them when I transferred the ncb to the 172, for 2 extra months cover with no ncb they charge me £21 which I thought was excellent.

Postcodes are a bitch though.

HONESTLY though Paul have you tried confused.com? I did it for a laugh and they genuinely got me the cheapest cover through halifax - I was shocked the thing worked!!

Oh and yeh you bugger - you never showed me your policy before you drove it! Why I oughta!

i use flux for both, never had an issue, inc 2 policies, lots of vehicle swaps and modification changes etc etc, always been friendly and helpful for me, never any issue with anything and they always waive any extra charges such as admin stuff etc when i ask them with a cheeky pitch and tone to my voice

I have a classic car policy on my valver through a company called Hagerty International. I only pay £147 a year comp with agreed value.

Wowzers ... many thanks for that recommendation Haz.

I don't think I've ever spoke to such a nice guy on the phone when getting an insurance quote before. It appears that they specialise in proper classics but the guy seemed genuinely interested in the Williams.

They will only insure you for limited mileage and you must have a main car insured for everyday use, luckily that's exactly what I'm after. Their quote was half the price of my previous best quote and he couldn't stop thanking me for the business!

Top Stuff.

They only cover standard cars. Also you can have more than one car on the policy too.

Can not fault them and have used them for a year and a half now.

So they guy told me, it's in connection with Axa Assistance. I've not received my policy docs through the post yet but will double-check.
