...also failed on effeciency of one of the rear calipers on brakes and hand-brake test. is this an easy fix or does it mean new calipers?
i believe these have been replaced the past two years for the MOT's.

best place to start is take em off and check them for corrosion etc etc, make sure sliders and caliper itself move freely, re-grease and check
using red rubber grease only..
alot of the problems comes down to the rear bias valve
for years i have needed new calipers on the back as they kept seizing. Not supprised as the valve wasnt working
Get the valve changed dan and u will not have a problem again
I have also had this problem. Last year by handbrake mechanism decided to stop working on both rear calipers. With the calipers only been fitted a year piror to that I simply rebuilt the handbrake mechanism. MOT time again and this year guess what handbrake isnt working and im sure my rear brakes are also bad as the disc are constantly covered in a small amount of surface rust which didnt even budge on a trackday.
Renault want £86 + VAT for the brake compensator, anywhere you can get them cheaper??
Is it an easy job to fit or am I better of getting new lines made up as well?

can get a seal kit an rebuild them..
i did..lines should be ok if they come undone...
other option is too remake the lines run them inside and fit an adjustable compensator
Thank guys, looks like i'll be paying a trip to Renault this week then for a new compensator valve. I know for a fact I won't get the brake lines out so may look into buying a brake line kit.
Anyone know what tools are needed for pipe bending / flaring?
if using copper/nickel can be bent by hand or around a bar very easily
need a flaring tool though..these can be expensive..

Ok last few questions best place to buy the cooper pipe? what size does it need to be? what about union nuts / ends, whats needed for those and the best place to get them?

its 3/16 copper pipe usually in 25m rolls..cheap as chips..
all ends are metric..get what you need male and female..10mm iirc
can upgrade to brass ends as they won't rust and seize ever again..

Absolutely. Both the Clio's I have had recently have suffered from seized bias valve. After lowering the Willy, it had a tendency to lock up the rears easily. Igot the bastard unseized though and it passed MOT on that npnp.
cant you just remove the compensator completely and plumb the lines back together
no will cause the rears to lock up if there in good working order
