I totally forgot it did this, The rev counter needle doesn't go all the way round to 6,400 it gets to 4k and stops!

Knowing the car I never really bothered and I had bought a set of replacement dials off Stromba and was going to pop those on when the mileage matched...

What is it likely to be a dodgy unit or an earth maybe??

If I turn the heaters on, lights on it drops the needle, turn them off and it shoots back up.

I'm pissed off with myself as I forgot this...

Any ideas?

Yes, Try Earthing the dials out to the body metal

Just done a quick search seems like the common 2 faults seem to be dodgy earth or the rev counter has failed...

mine used to work sometimes and then not at all. i replaced the rev counter a few weekends ago with one from a second hand set of valver clockes and it works fine now. Wasnt too difficult at all and only took and hour to get them out changed and back in

speedo cable can be an arse to get out, but it if you pull on it a bit you can get a bit more length (oo er!)
