I was just removing parts from my clio today, as i'm having to change the flywheel. That means i'm having to remove my rad.
Which leaves a gap so i can see the engine plate with the bonnent on (with a torch). Thought i'll have a look and it says F7R, thought thats not right should be a F7P (the car is a valver btw).
So i pop on here and checked it out (as most will have guessed) its a 2 litre, I bought it as a 16v and its had nothing to say its a 2 litre.

Only issue now is i've got an 1.8 engine sat in the garage that i was going to build up, guess it'll have to get bored out hehehe.

wouldn't bother mate, it's apparently alot of hassle, just keep it and bang it in an rt or something some day

congrats on the other engine though! :D

yes mate you can't bore a 1.8 to two litre the biggest increase comes from a different stroke crank..

and these fail to turn in a 1.8 block without major mods...

just tune the two litre after getting it checked..

Is the head a 2.0L?

I'll have a look in a bit and get back to you.
How can i tell the difference in the head (without taking it apart)?

I've got an F7R lump you can have to build up instead of the 1.8

Jammy git with the "valver" engine

F7R 700, is there any difference in them?

That would be a williams lump - iirc the differences in the F7R's are mainly in the cylinder head, cams, valves etc

F7R 700
F7R 710
F7R 714

Higher the number the better?

Yes & no

700 - williams

710 - megane, different head with bigger inlet valves but smaller ports, coil instead of dizzy, much milder cams than the willy, single butterfly throttle body

714 - would be the maxi but I heard it's in something else but can't remember  possibly laguna :?
Don't know whats in the head but the block is lighter with a different flywheel??

Is the 700 going to be the same flywheel as a valver engine? (off topic i know but having to replace the flywheel)

hi mate and yes same flywheel..

as started thats a good code F7R700 is a willy lump which hopefully means you have a willy head as well with the larger inlets too..

usually a megane engine F7R 710/714 means a valver head is fitted to allow ease of fitting..

so you have the best one really...
