Is it a common fault for the fan to stop working when the engines running and only come on when you turn off the ignition?

Mine overheated for the first time since it had new everything last year, on saturday. :(

Have noticed that the fan is definitely only coming on after turning off ignition.

Fan switch issue. Could be loose connector or the switch could have gone bad.

Fvck rigging a manual switch. It's got a low temp one and it's been fine up until now.

Thought there was an earthing issue or some kind of connection that gets fvcked?

Check the fan switch wiring. They have a habit of failing. Bridge the plug to see if the fan kicks in. If it does its the switch if not then start checking your earths etc.

i ha dthis mate...only works with ign off. bridge the switch, fan works..turn ign. on and it stops.

i had it traced to a diode. but since iv put a man switch in i havent really bothered to check it out since....got other more important things to sort at the minute lol

Aha. Diode sounds about right. Got it booked in to the specialist as, quite frankly, after dicking around for 5days with the beefers brakes and them still being wrong, I can't be fecked to sort it myself.

I'm going to get them to double check the sump whilst it's in as I wonder whether maybe the filter is leaking. Again, I can't be arsed to look myself.

Wiggled the switch plug earlier and I think it's that that's buggered as it kept coming on when I moved it and stopping when I let go.
