bout 800 quid plus fitting etc, get a rebuild at same time and ur looking at about 1200 quid all in excluding fitting etc

final drive is your last gearing in the box, also known as the differential, it is held in with a circlip normally in these cars, but later refurbed boxes recieved bolt in diffs which eliminates the circlip popping problem they suffer from

Lowered final drives are 450.

Yes gearbox is in need of a rebuild so would make sense to get it all done at once.
Have being advised to fit a 172 box as they are stronger units? Is there any truth in this?

not really, same unit as the williams gearbox, jc5, just tend to have less mileage on them so decent as a bolt on second hand replacement. if your getting it rebuilt, willy box will be fine

Yea had already been advised to take it to CTS i take it they are good then as everyone seems to recommend them. Wat kind of price would i be looking at for a full rebuild anyone had it done recently?

Oh yes and if you get a really high final drive 5.2:1 you need to machine the gearbox for it to fit....

What does that do? Shift the gearbox to top end rather than acceleration?
