Hi guys, still trying to arrange this track day/club meet. I think there is too much choice for us to come to any real conclusions...

Anyway I have chosen a shortlist of three tracks after which I will browse to get the best price on.

Hoping to arrange track day + camping.

Chosen three tracks North to South pretty much middle of the country so its 'fair'....

Poll is running for 10 days.

Yeh - but you are going to come for the bbq and camping arent you?

Having never been to anything like this ever, dates are more important than place for me as do shift work and time off can be difficult to get sometimes. Wouldn't mind any of them for a bit of BBQ & camping etc.

Jamie.

Can a mod delete this post but edit the first to include the thread in club meets.......

Would help/draw attention to it, may help you Kenny....

what dates are these for? Might be able to squeeze one or two in this year with a bit of luck. Fancy Oulton as I've not done it, but also fancy Donny as I know that one and want to see how much my 172 rapes my old Williams for lap times lol

Jamie.
17-02-2009, 18:44
I am concious about talking dates before we even decide on the track as we just have so many things going on.

But, I have been using http://www.trackdays.co.uk/ who list dates for the above. Obviously we can shop around but it appears dates are constant and differing companies just turn up/book.

The above want 5 people to get a group discount - but I am unsure on what this will be.

Jamie.

Northy I wish I could edit me posts with all this shit..... Anyway OPEN PIT LANE DONNINGTON 02/07/09 £240 pre discount.

ideally as you say we need to decide which track first, then can look at the dates for them and prices,

i personally wont pay £240 for a day at donington or any other track, thats a rediculous price!

will keep this thread running for now jamie, but i will link the other thread to this and vica versa untill we decide a track for certain!

Donny with the loop, liked it on the bike, only track day iv done was Snettiton in the skyline so the williams will be fun and cost alot less in fuel!

17-02-2009, 21:47
the norm for trackdays is £99 - £180max mate.

keep up the good work mate - im still for donny as ive never done that in the cup. Could always go angelsey again

Donnington or Anglesey for me, although I'd do any, not fussed about travelling either!

Thinking about it the new Anglesey last time was ****ing ace, miles better track these days and plenty of room for camping, but like I say I'll do any, we should decide track then dates, then start proceedings!

Good idea about a club meet.
Doesn't seem much has happened club wise for a long time.

I would prefer Anglesey.
As sessioned track days end up being worse for the car.
Because you stay out for the full 20mins, as you will have to wait a while to get back out again.

Anglesey is abit of a trek from down south, but its not a bad excuse for a nice scenic route through South Wales north...
Fun roads them.

I like the idea for Anglesey 8)

A long interesting drive on some great roads, would be a lot of fun & make it a bit more special since this would be a "big" meet. I'd come just for the drive then the bbq & camping :D

Either way I'm in for all of it

I reckon we should try & get the people from the Renault TV Channel to come along & show em how it's done

Would prefer Donington (only cos it'll cost me less to get there... purely tight-ass selfish reasons), but will go anywhere if it means sharing a beer and a race track with you lovely people!

Jamie.
18-02-2009, 21:47
Its a 5% discount from trackdays.co.uk

Not great, but its something. That is >5.

Any would be cool as I've never done one - shame it wouldn't be in the williams but hey the 172 will do!

Like the others dates are more important to me - with pennies as they are i'd prefer it to be a fair bit towards the summer!

Would be up for all three, getting there is a problem as my clio makes its own mind up if it wants to go or not. :(

Ok well to camp at Donningotn basically in the paddocks its £16 per tent and £2 per person for a 'normal' size tent i.e. not one of those big bastards... So if you are going to share its going to be £10 each or £18 if you are sleeping on your own. The camp site has got good reviews although it is a little expensive but it is for the middle of July.

And what about if you want to sleep in the back of your totally pimp and way comfy 306?

I've got a totally pimp and comfy Williams I can sleep in the back of, though the dubious petrol fumes may make life a bit...interesting.

I'd be up for it. Funds will be low around then though :(

I would say you will still have to pay your £2 per person and a £16 tent charge.

Share with someone?

Everyone knows 306's are classified as 'tents' :)

Jamie.
20-02-2009, 16:00
Slight issue here, Donnington park don't hire out helmets.

So its a case of buy one, lend one or were going elsewhere. Personally I need to hire one as I dont have one. What are peoples opinions here.

Jamie.
20-02-2009, 16:04
Ohh they dont hire them out becuase if someone crashed and had a brain injury they wouldnt want the liability.

Wobba
20-02-2009, 16:47

Daz.

you can get arrested for hiring a helmet over this way

Well it'll certainly pitch its wheel up.

It gives grown men erections too.

There's nothing camp about it though.

Either way, it'll still be pegging it away from your Clio around the track.

some would say I've already got a brain injury  but I wouldn't want someone elses old sweaty helmet around my face or the skid lid

Jamie.
20-02-2009, 21:26
Thread will be up tomorrow boys - it seems the helmet thing is of no bother to anyone.
