View Full Version : Club Meet

Seeing as there is no interest in FCS I wanted to arrange a club meet just for Williamsclio if anyone was interested...

I was thinking of sometime at the end of June or anytime in July or August (I cant make early June - exams).

I know this is a long time in advance but it gives people the opportunity to plan for it and not drop out.

There are several options:

1.) Club trackday and camp

2.) Driving holiday say around the Evo triangle plus camping

3.) Just at a camp site with a bbq and beers.

Been ages since I last attended a club meet and wanted to get one on the go............................

For location I was thinking of somewhere in the Midlands to make it fair for all North and South members - Around Bruntingthrope was my initial idea.

If trackdays are what people want then we will have to decide what track to do.

What are peoples suggestions for around the midlands?

donington park/rockingham raceway/bedford aerodrome are all central roughly, if a trackday was organised id personally prefer it to be a track not airfield as i like tyres!

looking at a map id say donington and rockingham are closest to the M1 which runs right up the centre pretty much, dont know of any other tracks around there tbh

just had a look if it helps, and donington park trackdays(ran by donington park themselfs) are £145 from march to october and sessioned so ideal for those who have never been on track or rarely!

so that is a option jamie, aswell as pos camping/bbq local if theres anywhere?

Yes mate sounds like a plan.

If we could arrange camping could camp either side of the track day depndant upon how far you were coming to attend. I.e. night before/after or both. Around that time of the year we can hope for good weather.

> Is there camping at donington park track?
The circuit operate a campsite to the west of the Coppice / McLeans area (near Castle Donnington). Book via circuit on 01332 810048. Note that this is less suitable for families/those wanting a quiet night than Park Farm campsite, which is just outside Paddock gate and needs prebooking. Park Farm's number is 01332 862 409, fax 862 364 and email John Shields. .

Sounds ideal for us lot then ;)

sounds like a plan, get in touch and get a rough idea on costs etc and if we get discount for booking a trackday too lol

I will let this thread run and get a number of people who want to come.

Probably need at least 10 for a discount I would say.

From research each session is 20 min.

So you get a total of an hour on track for £145??

Yeh you seem right enough.

Personally I want a track with an open pit lane and not sessions, but going to a track that does that means going elsewhere.

Does this have to be midlands then? Would people be happy going to Oulton maybe? Poss the other way Silverstone.

Need some other peoples input. Although only comment on what you prefer if you actually plan on attending! Dont want to jigg things around for those which wont come anyway.

Jamie, I'd do Oulton as it's only down the road from me...

If an open pit lane session is better I'm not fussed, since this is supposed to be a big meet I'm prepared to go further afield

If I was going to come I'd prefer open pit lane but tbh I doubt I'm going to have any cash in the near or medium future!! :(

Thanks for your honesty - will you come for the bbq and camping as thats most likely going to be pretty cheap.

white16valver
16-02-2009, 18:06
I reckon I could do that :)

I think I'd prefer on-road fun, personally, as that can be quite fun (and generally ;) doesn't use as much petrol lol) but I appreciate that track time is a good learning experience of limits at the higher speeds that you wouldn't want to learn on the road!!

unfortantly with sessioned there is potentially less tracktime, its actually 2hr 20min for a sessioned day at donington, but its always much cheaper then open pitlane for that time of year, your talking a good £200 or more for donington/oulton/silverstone in the summer and open pit!

Ok well this isnt really getting off the ground I am going to post in WC discussion a shortlist of 3/4 tracks which people can vote for after which thats it? I will set the poll to run for 10 days or so....
