After removing the snapped spring/springs from my car I noticed that one of the rubbers protecting the strut is damaged. Can someone tell me if its ok to carry on using....? Cheers

Ok mate...cheers, you know how much they are roughly? Are the 172 Struts the same? Just getting some 172 springs delivered tomorrow, only done 32k.

The standard shocks I took off are exactly the same as yours, damaged boots.

Just recieved the new dust cover today, cant see it being possible to just yank it over as the top of the new one is a very hard rubber that won't really stretch  . Can the actual rod part of the strut with the allen key on the top be unscrewed? Not sure on the proper name for it....Cheers.

You need to strip down and remove the spring to get the dust cover on.

I have removed the spring....its just the strut left now...I can's see the rubber stretching to fit over the top of the strut....not sure if its the right one or now now :?
