Does anyone have some information on Radbourne Racing?

I'm looking at buying a Williams that has been "fettled" by them from new.

As far a I can tell from google etc, they were a renault dealer that also tuned cars up so to speak.

I've only been able to find some info on work they carried out on an R5 GTT.

The car I'm looking at has been tuned by them but the guy doesn't know exactly whats been done to it engine wise. The previous owner claimed 200bhp but this guy says the previous owner was talking bollocks but it's definately a lot faster than his 2 previous williams.

What I'm after is any sort of information on what work they would have done to the engine to squeeze more performance from it. The guy hasn't had it on a RR either as he wasn't really interested in power figures etc, just the drive . He's claiming it's had a remap and he's guessing the power is somewhere between 170 and 180 bhp

Is this sort of power achievable from just a remap??

Or would Radbourne Racing have been playing with the internals as well??

We're discussing on the price

Just curious as to what work has been done as it seems that radbourne racing no longer exists

Back in the day they were a well known outfit with our kinda cars and R5 GTT's. I have a ton of old mags with cars they have messed with.

Not seen them about so much lately.

I've found out, as a business radbourne racing has been wound up and no longer trading :?

They used to be known as good tweakers of Renaults - they made their name with the 5 GT Turbo... they used to know their Renault stuff... shame their not going really..... the car your looking at looks nice.... just get rid of those gold strips.....

my ex has a willy 2 that has certainly been fettled with by radbourne.

He's willy is somewhat faster than mine.... :? But no apparent reason!

Lee ur right, they are or were a reno dealer who bought a few from new and got under the bonnet and sold em on...

my old williams was originally bought from them no idea if it had any engine work carried out didnt feel anyfaster than standard. the old woman said they was a big company back then. and had the car serviced there all the time.

Would r-sport be able to tell me exactly what work will have been done to the engine etc?

doubt they will have kept any records mate.

i would look at the car in the mind set that its standard. if u get any extra performance its a bonus.

A car thats been rolling roaded once may not still be in the same spec further down the road

What I'm really trying to get at is would they have done anything to the internals? Higher compression ratio, different cams or just a plain old fashioned remap & exhaust?

they usually just gave the cars a remap and thats about it tbh. my old willy 2 was from there. was quite a quick one , but the rest of the gubbins they added slowed it slightly, it was a demo car of theirs with all anti hi-jack kit, hands free phone, tow bar etc etc etc.

iirc they did fit the gp n/a ecu s

Amateurs the lot of ya  Mains power ftw

Back on topic though , sort of :? been to the bank to sort out the finances today and the news is good :D

I'm in a position to buy this williams, so don't need to sell mine 1st to pay for it :D So I'll be taking a trip to London to have a good look at the old girl and decide from there.

The insurance is £100 more than what I'm paying for my valver, all mods declared :P , so thats easily affordable for me :D Only condition is, the williams has to have a thatcham cat2 immobiliser fitted. So I just need to find out if it's already got 1 or how much it's going to cost to get 1 fitted and I could be the potential owner of Williams No. 0056

Just spoke to the guy & going to see the car at the weekend :excited:
He said that the only things he's changed is the panel filter and the low temp thermostat & fan switch and the rest of the car is exactly how it came from radbourne racing, even the gold bits of trim :-k

Is there any truth in that? :? If there is I think the gold bits will have to stay

He also said it's currently with Mark Fish having the clutch ratchet replaced as it broke last week

Paddy - have you rung mark fish to ask him what he thinks of it?

He's just down the road from me so if you wanted any pictures or anything (and mark was ok with someone coming to look at it) I might be able to pop over :)
