My TPS switch has the red wire broken, it seem to run fine ? Why ?

Also where can i get one from and how do you fit it ? hear they are buggers to fit ?

I think the red wire is the earth.

All it says on my info sheets is the top one is the ECU information wire, middle is 5v feed and one on the bottom (a red/pink looking one) is the earth.

How can the car work without the red wire (its snapped off completely)..

Yes, it seems strange to list that wire as an earth considering the colour (I am comparing to to my car wires outside and the spec sheet I have, could be different). I will post up a technical pic in a bit, just got to put my snow tyres on outside first.

shouldn't work without any of the wires really...

needs a feed an ecu output and an earth...

could be earthing though the fixing screw i suppose.

Sorry to drag this up , but i tested mine last night.

The two outside wires are simply varied resistance between each other , hence the sensor is actually a variable resistor , or potentiometer.

Middle wire is simply an earth shield to try and stop interference.

The sensor recieves no power

Hope this helps people in future :)

Sorry fo hi jacking the thread....
This is interesting.....

Working on fitting ITB's to my hybrid.

I have stand alone management - but i am still using the std. Renault loom. I need to know which wires are which.

With the Jenvey ITB's came at new TPS: http://www.jenvey.co.uk/drawings/TP_CP17.gif
Wires specified:
Yellow or black=Ground, Red=Output, Green or blue=+5v

I need to match the wires from the Jevey TPS to my loom/connector.
I would expect the wires to be similar to the std. Renault item?
Any ideas?

Any help much appreciated! :-)

Contrary to what everyone says, i actually find the TPS a piece of piss to set up just by letting the car idle and tweaking the TPS until it settles at around 900rpm when warm.

Never caused an issue and i've adjusted mine plenty of times.

When i do this , i get a sever hold back when i put the slipper down , then a few seconds later it shoots of like a rocket, is this bad adjustment ? or is it possible that when this is plugged in it highlights a fault elsewhere ? ( if i unplug it doesnt hold back but idles high )

Not really sure, not had that issue myself. Might possibly be a faulty TPS though? Have you tried another?

No not tried another , but resistance wise it works fine ?

What other cars have the same one so i can get pilfering in the scrappy lol.
