HI all,

i got a 16v with williams engine a few months ago and was told it had as wider track on the front. after investigating this and messuring with a williams i can see it isnt but what i can see is that its the wishbones that are wider and not the actual sub frame. iv looked at a parts list for drive shafts and they seem to be the same code as the 16v ??? iv not looked at anything else but i assume the roll bar and track rod ends must be longer ???

am i correct ???

cheers ST

widetrack consists of

wider and thicker ARB with different outer mounts
longer wishbones
longer driveshafts
different front struts
longer front brake flexi lines

thats it

subframe is dimensionally the same, just triple skinned on the williams

technically track rods are longer aswell i think, but usually enough give in the valver track rods and ends to wind them out to compensate safely

easiest spot is valver runs a noticable amount of camber, and the williams doesn't !

ye this seems to be like that but he said he put a williams sub frame on it so maybe he did but didnt put any of the other stuff on it ???

Justin..

quite possible as you wouldnt notice any difference with just the subframe

the silly bugger. how much does it cost to make it into the wider track ???

Justin..

for second hand parts, £200 maybe. could easily be double that though.

you dont need the widetrack mate, its not essential for the engine or anything  its just a performance upgrade for the car, so when current stuff wears out, upgrade maybe?

best way to tell is outer arb bushes also, sleeve type design on widetrack, drop link bolt and bushes on valver track

You dont need to change the subframe for widetrack I dont think.

Correct. I've widetracked mine but have stuck with the valver subframe as I'd just had mine powdercoated before finding out about the triple skin!

Triple skin just weighs more anyway ;) lol

I recommend the widetrack upgrade though, a million times better than a shagged valver set up 8) :D

widetrack consists of

longer front brake flexi lines

Has anyone had problems with standard valver front brake lines with widetrack?

mine pulled tight on full lock. it = MOT fail

The braided goodrich lines for a williams are the shorter ones from a valver though (there's been a thread) so get the Renault 19 ones as that had a much wider track than the valvers :)

i always thought williams had a double skinned subframe and valver single, could be wrong tho. there is a noticeable weight difference between the 2 i know that much
