No I got rid of them as soon as I could - maybe its just a few people I know but we couldn't get on with them, I know lots of people get them on here but I think thats a bit of a following that started - I know its hard when you can't trial a tyre but I also don't think you should aways get one on word of mouth...

I was much happier swapping them for something else.

I can't understand what there is to fault with GSD3's, bargain price, look good, fantastic grip wet or dry, slow wear rate.....the list goes on, I wouldn't buy any other tyre personally

Michelin PE2's are the daddy, end of story, ive run Goodyears and a lot of others, PE2's are in a different league entirely

aye, I can drive like it's dry when it's raining, means all the pansies getting in your way on the road can be dispatched on roundabouts with no worries ;) lol

These are the emails I sent/received back in 2007 when I couldn't find any GSD-2s for sale!

Subject Eagle F1s - discontinued?

Your question or suggestion =
Hi there, A friend of mine told me today that you have discontinued making the F1 (I presume the GSD2 and GSD3 ranges) and, looking online, I can't find anywhere that's doing them at the moment, so it appears that he is telling the truth. Is this the case? If so will you be selling off old stock to clear it quickly? And will the Assymetric range be expanded to cover all the sizes that the GSD2 and GSD3 covers (covered?)? Many thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your e-mail.

In certain sizes F1 GSD2 & 3 are still available. F1 Asymmetric though as time goes on will become the main ultimate high performance tyre.

With regards to prices we advise you speak to your local tyre supplier.

I found them poor tbh, too hard of a compound tyre, not enough grip

Right iv decided to go for the Yokohama PARADA SPEC 2 195/50 R15 as they will be at my door on tuesday for £150.20 for a set of 4, thought that was a real good price. I did find the GSD3's but they were in the 195/45 profile and were £50+ each. My tyre place said they would fit the tyres for me for £6 each =£24 so for £174.20 all in im thinking that is a good saving

Paddy what sort of milage do you get out of your Yokies Front and back?
That e-bay price is good it works out at £150 with postage so 20p cheeper

Can't really tell you tbh, I've only done about 2500 miles on the pair on the front so they've hardly been used

The rears have done about 5000 miles, for 2500 they were on the front. I'd say they've hardy worn at all but I'll have a look with the old tread depth gauge when I get chance.

I got mine from ebay as well 8) Had 3 pairs so far, 1st pair cost £80 delivered - these had a little sideways accident with a kerb at a fair rate of knots  , 2nd pair were £68 delivered and the 3rd cost £56 delivered :D

i head the paradas wear quikly? seen a chap on cs had them a month and they had died lol but im guessing he was caning it everywhere. ive been meaning to try pe2s as i hear alot of good stuff about them. 150 is a bloody good price but they have always been a cheaper tyre?

16v_paddy
25-01-2009, 22:07
Well I'd expect them to wear quite quickly as they're quite a soft compound rubber :? So probably not very good on a heavier car

Got no complaints with mine & I hardly drive like a granny either

ive had a few different Yokos and whilst good in the dry they are not that brilliant in the wet and wear really quickly

thought the 185/55/15 gsd3's were replaced by assymetrics? shame im on my first set of f1's and there ace! better than the toyo's will be using them again if i can get hold of some, wear rate isnt good mind!
Also people make sure you get genuine goodyears, should be made in germany, theres loads of "goodyears" made in china and somewhere else, the chinese tyres have had nothing but bad feedback, Blowouts, bulges disintegrations etc
Might be tempted to try parada's next, but tbh i cant fault the toyo px4's i had beforehand very good grip but not as good as the f1's grip wise, but wear and feedback is up there with the best! on par with the toyo t1r's in my opinion!

185/55/15s are gsd-2 ;)

I'm not sure what the assymetric range covers now - they only started at 17" when they first came out  but they are supposed to be the replacement tyre for the GSD3 (but then the 3 was a replacement for the 2, and they've continued to make that in certain sizes, fortunately )
