I'm fitting a williams widetrack to my project valver.

What's everyone done with regards to the rack and track rod ends? is there enough adjustment in the rod ends to allow for the widetrack? I remember reading someone say that there was only a couple of threads left if the valver rack is used.

I might be using a manual rack off a 1.2/1.4, but they are not very 'quick'. If I don't use one, i'd like to stick with my valver rack.

cheers everyone :D

I have a manual rack in my widetracked valver. You should have about 1cm of thread on either side if using the standard rods and ends, which I hope is enough, although it is a slight concern to me since there was loads of thread used when it was standard track width.

cheers mate :)

can I ask if your setup is:
male track rod end and female track rod
or female track rod end and male track rod?

I may look into having the my rod ends lengthened slightly

Some say they are too short and a garage would bitch moan and throw their tools out the pram, but frankly, they are fine.

As above, I had the std 16v PAS rack and rod ends with the widetrack and there was never a problem.

one last thing. Is it possible to remove track rods (not ends) from racks?
Could I take the longer track rods off a willy rack and put them on a non-PAS rack?

Yeh You can Remove the "track rods" from the actual Rack, need a pair of stilson's and Its Quite tight for space... Just my rod ends are wound out and have been fine,

Wouldn't you need replacement locking washers if you took the old rods off a 16v rack and swapped for secondhand willy ones?

Ideally, yes. Or you could buy brand new Willy rods and they should come with the locking washers.

You will get these supplied with the rods.

Which come with the famous locking washer!

One of mine was missing the washer, so I rang up and said about it and they sent me another one out in a couple of days 8)

I believe the washers on their own are part code 600745370, as that was what was on the pack...

:)

You'll also notice I've ringed the marks on the rods - I think they're identifying marks for which side is which. I believe Right Hand Side is 3 marks and Left Hand Side is 4 marks.
