View Full Version : help on fitting a new engine
Hi All, happy new year first of all.
Im changing my clio 1.1 to a 1.8 16v, i just recieved the engine from the UK but i think i may require a few more parts.
Am i right in saying that the subframe from a 1.1 will not match a 1.8
Also does anyone have a pic of the 2 gearbox mountings (rear and side) not sure if they are complete on the engine i got.
I'll load up some pics when it's ready the body is being sprayed at the mo and it's lookin good :)
tks for now
James
Subframe wont fit, no.
Quite a few threads here about gearboxes and what fits what. You have several options!
Good luck with the respray!
I thought all the subframes were the same, other than the williams, which was triple skinned?
The gearbox should have a bolt on bracket on top of it, with a rubber mount on top, which bolts to the bottom of the battery tray.
You should also have a mount on the back of the gearbox attached to the black bracket.
If it is the same subframe that would really save me , would be great to know. Any idea where the best place to get second hand spares from ? ebay or maybe some guys on here ??
hi mate subframes are the same..
could p.m. Mat Brown on here and ask about postage to Malta as he has most bits you will need..
