Just a couple of quick snaps After I gave her a very quick scrub to remove the debris from the drive down from Glasgow yesterday. She is lovely, needs some TLC in a few places but overall she is in good condition. Over the following months I plan to, amongst other things;

Wire brush and treat some small rust patches.
Remove and re-fit drivers seat.
Replace passenger Window switch.
Change a few Dash Bulbs.
Recondition Wheels.
Fix Heater.

I love her to bits already!

Very Noice...
Although I'd include to get the badges restord to original finish (or buy some)
And definitely get the Mudflaps reduced in size - if not removed completely.
Fit an aerial too maybe...

Nice to see another early '1' 8)

Forgive my ignorance but I was led to believe that 1's had gold badges? The mudflaps are staying because I like them and I have the aerial but Its fixing is broken and that is another thing I am going to sort out while I have her :)

Wobba

Looks spanking! At least the mudflaps will protect the flanks of the car against stonechips and grime :)

bodben
18-12-2008, 13:16
Indeed, and I am and always have been a huge rally fan, and With the flaps on she really does look like a little group N car. Plus I figure since she was developed by the Renault Rally team she might as well look the part :)

Very nice, someone off Clio Sport to.

The badges were not gold as standard.

18-12-2008, 14:23
Thanks guys!!

Its a Scorpion Exhaust, Not sure specifically what kind though, According to the history file I have It was fitted about 10 years ago by Prima Racing. I need to take a look at it though, not sure if its because of a space issue but it appears to be mounted at 90 degrees to how it should be!!!!

I will have a dig through the history later and see if I can figure out exactly what it is.

How long have u had her then?

Did u not inspect history when u looked at buying her mate? Scorpion are quite quite compared to others arent they? I have one on mine...Thinking of changing to a magnex that my buddy justin has....

I'll be buying a williams to import over here next year so i'll be looking for a good one too buy, would 4 grand get me a good one ??

Let me rephrase that TURBINES, Turdbines would look rather shitty i think. :D

Coops
18-12-2008, 16:44
nope, all clio williams' have silver renault and clio badges and silver renault diamond badge on the bonnet, then gold 'williams' stickers on the rear boot lid, and both rear arches.

wheels across all williams models wear gold 15" 7J speeline 'williams' alloy wheels, the turbine wheels were fitted to phase 1 clio 1.8 16v and were silver

looks nice mate, something i noticed which is me being picky lol is that the front wing 2.0 badges are on the wrong way, the 2.0 should be behind the indicator or am i wrong williams 1 owners?

bodben
18-12-2008, 17:27
Lets seeee, Firstly I did read somewhere about williams 1's having gold badges but I can't remember where and I am sure you guys are right so at some point I will get em' repainted.

As far as the exhaust goes, yes I spent over an hour in a cafe in Glasgow reading through the service history!! Once again, I am not a silly bugger. That is how I know it has a Scorpion exhaust, I just don't know the exact model, in the history I have a bill and receipt for one "Scorpion exhaust" and the fitting there of. No mention of what its called. And it is LOUD! :P

It isn't the car that was on Pistonheads, that car I think was probably Jamie's as his has a gold diamond too.

As far as the 2.0 goes, hmm I think you are right! but if they have been put on the wrong way round at some point It will only take me 5 mins to fix :).

thanks Guys!

Ben

tbh its all minor bits the badges which dont take 5 to sort, if its a full scorpion system then its quiet compared to some lol, my scorpion you could hardly hear!

Sweet car mate!!

bodben
18-12-2008, 17:47
Yeah I guess I don't have anything to compare it to, it does make a lovely noise and is Is about as loud as I would ever want her to be, still think its been put on wrong though, need to get her up on the ramps and have a closer look.

Someone asked me how long I have had her too, I got her yesterday, Picked her up at about 11am!

Just got back from a quick drive, she FLYS, I'm not even running her to the limiter, she pulls so well in every gear and above 3500 she really gets going. If only I could marry a car.

Also, not sure about the stickers TBH, have to have a closer look when its light.

Wobba
18-12-2008, 23:24
Got yourself a legend there mate, I am sure you'll look after it.

I got mine a few months ago, and I've done shitloads to it since, mostly replacing bits I thought may be worn etc (which were all fine tbh lol), but now its cracking along and I have great fun in it despite having owned far more powerful machinery in the past.

Ariel is easy.

We have lots of handy people here with an answer for any problem, so when you start getting gremlins, don't panic ;)

As for you Leighanne...apart from the baffles going on my Magnex, did you like the sound on my car? Of course I have pedestrain-scaring decat on mine and soon to be wrapped manifold for extra poppage. I get MAHHOSSIVVE pops and bangs rally-style on overrun in 5th, ask Justin. I got some the other night on the way home actually hehe! Always makes me giggle.

Oh the cliosport sticker! yeah, I have a new one coming in the post already. Believe it or not I only put that on yesterday, but its one of those ones that comes sandwiched between 2 bits of paper. Basically It was so fiddly that a couple of the letters and a full stop gave their lives in the process of becoming stuck to the window!

I get lovely pops and bangs from my exhaust on lift off :) Gives me goose bumps!!

Thanks for all the support though guys! Great that there is a community like this for these lovely little cars!

bodben
18-12-2008, 23:41
Lol I do have one of them in the post too! and an ELF sticker! Ordered them all yesterday! I will find a special place for all of them, but the ELF sticker is going where the cliosport one currently is, and the Williamsclio sticker is going on the opposite side for sure.

Wobba
18-12-2008, 23:42
Good lad :D

WC sticker F T W.

What tyres has it got by the way?

Wobba
18-12-2008, 23:44
Also, the rear hatch trim, where the gold badges are, thats not standard colour is it? Looks like its been sprayed matt black or something.

I sprayed my valver one, but I have returned to the OE grubby grey plastic on my Willy now.

bodben
19-12-2008, 00:02
Yeah the trim is sprayed, probably got done when the badges got painted. As for the tires they are alas just perelli p6000's. The previous owner used to commute on the m'way alot so he opted for them. I will replace them with something more sporting when I can afford to!

that 90 degree thing you mention is correct, that's the way scorpian exhausts are...

an ariel kit from renault is around £13+ vat

looks like a nice example mate.

bodben
20-12-2008, 14:10
Thanks mate! And yeah you are right, I found a diagram of the exhaust and It is correctly mounted. Looks a bit funny like that but its all good. All I need to do now is get some bushings to stop it from rattling at start-up :)

16v_paddy
20-12-2008, 14:15
Might be worth looking at the dogbone mount as well  my exhaust used to rattle a lot, especially at start up and accellerating due to the engine moving
