does anyone have the facility to grind and polish the silver lip on willy wheels?

im half decent with a spray gun and have done wheels before so im gonna give them a go, but will need someone to do the grinding for me, all my local places are saying that they wont get involved with it, even the proper engineering firms!

Just have to make sure that you keep them free of salt if you've got them over winter as without lacquer on top they go very quickly! :(

thre should be a guide, someone came up with the ingenious plan of mounting the bare rim on the car while on axel stands and then letting the engine idle while holding some sand paper onto a fixed point, the wheel spins around and polishes up the rim nicely!.... just makesure to lacquer them lots!!

lol the car isn't in gear it is simply idling which allows the drive shafts to rotate slightly... i did it with a grinding and polishing wheel... just took a little while to get the circular swirls out of the lip...

have a search under my name for tur bines... they looked mint!

yeh you need to use diffrent grades of sandpaper from very course to very fine, then apply polish like autosol. Then keep rubbing to polish it out

Not the inner lip, just the outer like OE I think.

heres what i did after having them media blasted, high build primed and painted... myself...

The out lip is simply cut back using different compounds of cutter, sand paper and flap wheels... not perfect, but it was free! just some elbow grease!
