hello to all.
Thinking about puttin a megane F7R engine in my clio. Wanting some advice on how easy a job it is and what, if any modifications need to be made. What happens with the wiring as i know the megane lump uses coilpack so thatl be different.
Also whats the difference between the williams engine and the megane F7R. Are the flywheels the same along with the clutch.

Has anyone on here done one of these conversions

Just in need of a little insight to how big a job it is really.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks
Danny

Think you need a bit of fiddling with the loom to get it to work with megane management, you will almost certainly need a megane loom and ecu to use,
Easiest way is to ditch the Megane head off, Fit a valver or Williams head, use the williams/16v flywheel as the megane has 1 crank postion sensor on it? as opposed the the 16v's 4? i may be corrected on that, williams or megane starter and thats pretty much it! williams ecu will then work fine with this arrangement

hmm. that sounds more a mess around than im prepared for. I may just wait out and buy a williams engine or something. Theres no point me buying a complete megane for then engine and messing around with it like that. Is there no way i can just drop it in a get someone to sort the wiring out.
There must be someone on here who knows what to do with it

Im not sure if anyone has done it with the megane loom and ecu, im sure it can be done but hopefully the Ecu wont need unlocking etc, if youve blown your williams lump up then just use the megane bottom end and use everything else off your old engine, will start on the button.

if you have the megane ecu and engine loom, you can just wire it into the clio loom.

I thought the inlet manifold fouling the bonnet was another issue? mind you someone on clio16valver has done it

It has been done in the past but it's a horrible horrible complicated mess wiring wise to get it going, even the most simple way of removing everysingle piece of clio wiring & replacing with everything from the Megane is very difficult as the routing of the cables & position of the ecu are different to how they go in the Clio engine bay

At first, thank you for your quick response my friend.. although, as you said it has been done before many times so I hoped someone here could help with my project. I don't expect it to be that easy after all.. all nice things come with a cost
