my passenger side spring was snapped in half

but all is good i bought a new one about 6 months ago!

i want to do it this weekend and want it to be a straightforward as possible, how is the strut 'mounted' to the turret? i done the suspension on my old 106 gti and that had 4 bolts on the turret which you could undo and it would drop the suspension set down, now obviously i cant see any bolts at the top for the suspension on the clio, so how is the spring/damper fixed to the turret?

is it through the big bolt in the middle at the top of the damper?

or is it underneath the suspension turret where you cant see?

:P

Jack car up, remove wheel, undo and remove two big bolts which hold the strut to the stub axle.

Open bonnet, undo top strut bolts and remove the collar.

From there you should be able to take the whole strut unit out.

To dismantle the strut is easy JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE SPRING COMPRESSORS. Danger of death or serious injury otherwise!

Make sure you remember the order of parts that come off as it is easy to forget how to put them back together once the spring has been replaced!

You'll need to compress the new springs to get em back on as well, but all that can be done in the warmth :)

Make sure the top nut is done up properly, you'll need a 6mm allan key and a 21mm swan neck spanner possibly.

Just to clarify, it's three bolts to remove. Two on the stub axle, one on the top of the strut.

np.

Swaping them over is easy. The only thing thats a bit of a pain is compressing springs to get the top mount bits off safely.
