Bearings-rumbling, expecially on corners where extra weight is put on it.
Ball joint- Jack car up and check for movement by grabbing the top and bottom of wheel, there should be no movement. A ball joint can knock, and make sterring a little less accurate

Didnt' you have new ball joints fitted??

Bearings, can also be detected by jacking up the car and s#eeing if the wheel moves from side to side, and when you spin the wheel does it make a noise...well mine did

Don't i remember you posting up a while back saying you had new ones and they made a massive difference?....or is that just me :?:

i was concerned about my nearside ball joint being a bit knackered as i had a knocking sound coming from that area - jacked the car up today and there is a little play in the wheel. Q to stromba - did you get your ball joint from renault direct or gsf?? and do you have to get the pair or is it advisiable to replace as a pair??

i was reading on www.m-fix.co.uk/clio/ website and it seems quite a labour intensive job??

Ball joint is a piece of piss. I got the whole wishbone from gsf with new bushes and ball joint.

Play in wheel could also be the track rod.

Can someone give me an idea of how much movement / what type ov movement there should be in a new ball joint off the car?

My old ones i have in front of me now. They are real easy to wobble around. Lots of rust. Look pretty ****ed.

Should be quite difficult but possible to move the ball joint about
