hi,

heres a quick question for the powdercoating peeps...

is it possible to remove powder coat from an item?

Reason i ask is that i have a set of wheels that were done but have started to flake round the wheel nuts...tempted to have them redone but i'm wondering if the previous layer will be removed when they're blasted etc.

?

When i get my stuff powder coated, they always grit blast it back to the bare metal. So the paint flaking shouldn't be a problem.
If not could give some nitro mors a go

most powder coaters also have an acid dip which does not harm the wheel and softens the powder to the point it can be washed off with a hose we use it all the time.

It is no problem to them,
I had a cam cover done in Blue, fitted it to my car and F**k me the verniercam wheels caught the bosses on the inside
OUCH !!! It heated up very quickly and blistered the powder coat. I took it back and asked the guy to re-touch it etc ~~ "No can do ~~ I will have to strip it (chemically) and reblast ,then recoat" ~~ All for free    great bloke.
