I'm looking for more indepth info on the clio williams ideally, as im about to pick on up tomorrow.

I just need to know about the pressure on the dials while in idle state. What size are the front brakes and is it worth upgrading and what to. Im thinking laguna 2.0/2.5v6 setup or are the williams brake more than upto the job?

with regards to the rear torsion bars do these often suffer from bush break down can they be replaced eaisly or are they more of a pig to do. ?

Ive only ever had a clio 16v and been into vauxhalls and vag so i know what bits i can rob of other cars to replace or modify my own. But with french stuff im a lil cluless.

I did try to go Premium member, i do not have a paypal and my girlfriend has no money in her account typical lol.

Cold idle between 4 and 6 bar.

Hot idle from 0.2 bar to 0.8 bar.

Normal driving when up to temp 2 bar.

Thrashing it around 4/5 bar.

Normal operating temp is 80degrees.

Water temp should sit on the lower line about 1/3 the way up.

cheers Jamie :D

This one sounds about right then as it was around that when cold, and started to drop down when warmer.

Anything else i should look for before handing over the monies?

Yeh, why did it have a 1 x ph1 rear light and 1 x ph2 light.

Also check the gear box for any niggles or non smoothness. Should be fine. Biting point on clutch is usually fairly low down to middle of the clutch.

Check the arches for rust. Get into the car and look behind the carpet in the boot also. Dont want any rust as you cannot get rid of it.

Check for any play in the steering as the columns always 'go'.

Check for worn bushes or knocks on the suspension.

Give it a boot right a round about and make sure it sticks well as it may feel a little loose which could be worn track rods or nakered shocks.

Did you check to see how noisy the head was when hot and cold also? Should be a bit noisy when cold but smooth and noise free when hot.

Power should be smooth all the way through the band also. No flat spots or sudden lift offs like in the 172's.

one problem, which i forgot to mention was the gear selector... Not the box, it was sloppyish do they have a bush repair kit for these? the car has been sat off road in a garage for a good while as the prev owner was banned from driving. the arches are bubble free and look very soild. Im a body repair/sprayer by trade for the last 4years and there appears to be no filler bar the de-locked doors on the car.

same car.... ummmm

Fogs were removed as they has basically fallen apart and looked even worse in, i didnt pick up on the rear lights.

Im paying £1800 for it... Its been owned by a lad from manchester who lost his licience and left it garaged, this guy bought it whos 65 and wanted to use it for rallyX, He ended up spending a few £££ quid on it and bought a 306gti6 to rallyX instead.

He paid £1300 for the car with no tax, test, and everything was sloppy. he put new Bottom ball joints on it, new steering rack, TCA and a wheel bearing along with a brand new Blue flame exhaust system.

The exhaust was £300 the other parts would be around the £200ish mark, esp for a re furb'd steering rack.

a set of rear lights is only cheap, but there is no evidence of severve crash *cat d, C damaged)

I guess some little things have to be wrong with most cars at this age... most important was driving it as im a body lad and its being re-painted anyways :D

Cheers tho jamie, at least it was not a complete horror story on it.
