Hi all iv been thinking of lowering my Williams 2. The only thing that is putting me off is the fact i had a R5 GTX1.7 and slammed it, looked the muts nuts but made the handling eeerrrmm TRICKY, it would stick and stick when WAM it would try and throw you in the bush!
As the Clio handles so well i do not want to mess it all up, i already have a bloody dangerous handling car with the skyline! (ex drift car)
Should i drop it a little - how much as to not stuff it up. I dropped the R5 60mm. Cheers for imput. 8)

I would go for standard all day long

Ive had silly low and the standard set up is the best for the road imo

a 30mm drop on the front is ok, i wouldnt bother going lower or touching the back end tbh

Depends on how you like your car. I like a car a bit stiffer personally, but the hassle of getting it right can be expensive and very time consuming/frustrating. You are more likely to mess up what is already a brilliant handling car.

Just renew everything in my opinion. Shocks, springs, track rods and ends, ARB bushes and wishbones/bushes and weld the column. Finally, get the tracking done and you have what has oft been described as one of the best handling cars of all time.

Bendee wot does ur sit at...? Thats a nice ride height.

As said tho....ride height is set that height for a reason, to handle as its meant too. But looks stunning imo

STD hight at mo, prob leve it how it is coz the roads round here are bumpy as hell ne way, just like the look of the wheel bein a lil in the arch is all. Spose it depend on- if a set of 30mm lower springs turn up cheap, i already have the bar lowering stuff that iv had left from the old R5.
Only had it 4-5wks and got a zorst, filter fitted.......... Cant leve anything alone me

i took mine back to standard renewed most of the steering and sus parts for either OE or powerflex, now theres a knocking from the front end and i dont have the confidence in it int corners as i did with 35mm springs on the front,
i tried to put the springs on the new ren shocks but it endeed up lower than before and scrubbed the arch liner so bit stuck really

got mine low. previous owner did it.

its not slammed, but it does look flush.

it handles like a dream. i want standard, but i dont want to lose the current driving experience.

if its not broke, dont fix it. and it currently works fine for me.

I'd like to drive a standard williams tbh. Mine has lowered and stiffened konis, strut brace and negative camber + lsd, it's set up for hill climbs and can be a bit of a handful on bumpy roads.... I still love it though, as fasterthanjesus said, if it aint broke don't fix it, I've driven it with this set up for 4 years!!

My valver is on the deck with widetrack and standard shocks.

Its not very pleasant on country lanes but roundabouts and large roads its untouchable and looks very cool imo

Here is a pic of my old car lowered front and rear....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/drsmith/IMG_0065.jpg

this is as low as i would go as it can be troublesome on speed bumps... handled much better on the 50's than the 45's too....

^^ That looks sweet. How much is it lowerd by?

Im thinking of getting some new OEM shocks and putting some -35mm springs on there, H&R or Eibach.

I've always been told that when you fit springs to old worn out shock then they'll die pretty quickly and become very crashy.

Does look nice that, how much was that lowered? 30mm?

i think it was 30 or 35mm drop at the front and lowered rear beam......

Things to think about though are your rear brake bias valve as the lower you go the more bias goes to the rear as it is spring loaded, but if you have a faulty one it can make braking a little more fun! haha.....

The car is now owned by 'ScottCup' on here so he can give you some more pics if you like? hes also had it on track!... not sure what springs they were but there is a receipt for them which Scott will have.... Handled awesome, GazTwo and Northy have driven it too along with Gunner and it is very tight and responsive with the above set up

Looks very similar in ride height to mine, this is it on adjustable Konis, not sure what height it's set at, the original owner had it set up at Prima Racing....

Probably to low for the road but with r888's fantastic round Cadwell and still good for the amount of kerb I was taking. Saying that the drive home wasnt to bad
