Found these oil filter magnets on ebay

I think these are a good idea in principle - eg on a freshly rebuilt engine, can anyone think of a reason not to have one of these :?:

Just sounds like another resistor chip to me.

Dont all the high powered turbo'd jap cars have a magnetic sump plug though? there must be something to it, this is just repackaging it and putting it somewhere else......

Clio's have have a magnetic gearbox plug, so yeah must be something in it.

Best way to tell is to do a proper test.
Keep hold of your old filter.
Use the new filter with the filter-mags for the same length of time as the old filter.
Cut open both filters and examine them.
Let us know!

will help and hold metal bits but the filter should do this anyway....

would be better in the sump as it keeps it out of the oil pump....

a lot of engines have this on the sump plug, but on the filter is not very clever in my opinion.
