Hi,

I / we (motorclub) are really struggling for marshalls on this event.
There are about 5 marshalling posts and each should have 2 or more marshalls,It is a long day,as you have to sit at the side of the track, from the beginig of practice until the last timed has been completed.Bring a seat/chair and some waterproofs.
Anyone interested please get in touch

Ps. I have lent my Clio rally car out,to a couple of mates who are competing.

Wrong time of year for a man of my advanced years to be standing outside all day in the sort of weather we are likely to experience but I thought you might have had a better response from some of the young blades on here. Come on Daz, Wavy, 2 Live and any others from round our area, give Rod some support.
Who will be driving the rally car Rod? and why not you?
Pete

Hi Doug,
Much appreciate the offer,  Just to make you aware though,Once you are in position on the marshalling post, you MUST remain there for the duration of the event ~~  Hence come prepared ~~ butties/flasks waterproofs and if possiblke a foldaway chair to sit on.
To get there, pick up the A640 ROCHDALE road and travel through OUTLANE.Pick this road up at Junction 23/24 on the M62.Circuit will be arrowed from the A640,follow the arrows on the service road, until you go UNDER the motorway, turn square left along a service road, that runs parallel to the M62,search me out in the paddock area   A very grubby looking "M" reg Williams 2,ask for Rod.
Regards a trial/test run,I am afraid this is not possible,  only Bona Fida MSA license holders are allowed ~ Insurance etc.
I might be able to wangle a non~competive run though   no guarentees though.

but how long is the day rod?
i realised after getting excited and making the previous posts , that it was the grand prix final on sunday and i really really dont wanna miss it so its a toss up between the two. its so annoying as anyother day it wouldnt be a problem.

i popped down for a couple of hours at the start, didnt get chance to say hi tho rod you looked a busy man, you must have been up and down that hill a million times!
i really enjoyed it being my first time at any kind of motorsport event sice i was young.

After seeing the guys in the audi tt, mazdas and diesel golfs going up, i may look into getting a license.
my favs were def your maxi, that talbot which looked mint, and the escort which gave it a kinda oldschool rally feeling, put a grin on my face everytime they went past
that dax rush must have had some serious power too it was ridiculous when he stepped on the gas, and the noise....

sorry i couldn't marshall, id be more than happy to do it next time i just really couldnt miss the grand prix. hope everything went well.

Doug,
Glad you enjoyed the day   Like you said I was up and down like a new brides nightie
That Dax Rush was a "Quadra"  4WD with Escort Cosworth engine and running gear~~It actually set FTD.  We were told approx 340 bhp  :P
The Lotus Sunbeam was /is a completely rebuilt/restored Ex~Works rally car down to the last detail of the decals, was driven by Guy Frequelin in its day ~~ Valued at £50k  :? and now fitted with a tracker, for obvious reasons.Put together from scratch by my mate at "A FRAME ENGINEERING" who won his class in the Golf TDI
The guys in my car    enjoyed themselves, but were complaining   that there was too much power for the damp/wet conditions ,even super soft KUHMO rally tyres did not make any difference.
The next one there will be April or May 2009   If you need any help etc just get in touch
Rod
