HI All,

tuck the clio to the 1/4 mile track on sunday and did 14.70 sec. is this good for a williams ? when i got it i was told it had cams remap and other engine work does this figure seem about right. what are the best ways to get power from these engines without spending a fortune on a turbo ?

cheers simon

theres not any way unless you spend a fortune

n/a 220/230bhp with about 5k...

turbo 220/300bhp with about 5k plus a few other tweeks..

turbo's can run 650bhp but you never get it done..

if you has cams head work pulleys re-map then next is throttle bodies at 2.5k

sorry..

my standard williams engine, made 15.6 this weekend at pod, that was with a full tank of fuel and my fat ass in it :D

I did a 15.3 with a semi stripped rear, half a tank of fuel, slight headwind.

I have a straight through exhaust, Gunnerchip, ITG filter and a quickshift gear system.

I can see how getting quarter mile times down can be addictive, but the cost of doing so is not cheap. I think at the end of the day the Williams is less of a straight line performance car, and more of a track day and fast road car as the handling is what truly sets it apart.

14.8ish for a quick one standard

I've done 14.8 when it was standard, so has Northy and his bro IIRC, 2live also

Makes a massive difference in times does your technique, took me a good few times to get anywhere near 14.8

Yea my technique needs work. I would like to see the power curve to understand the best gear change to exploit the best peaks in BHP on the rev range.

The right launch will bring times tumbling. Took me loads of trip to York and Pod to bring the time down

pretty much the same mods as me and i ran a 14.8 and mines stripped launch still wasnt perfect was holding back.

I've never been down a strip, but I've heard lowering the front tyre pressures & raising the rear pressures helps. Also, apparently holding about 4k revs at the start is good, too. 8)

Do you guys on here find you get better traction at the start at York, than the Pod?

14.89 is my best - thats with just a exhaust on.

With cams etc you should be at low 14's. Launch is everything

I launched at 2k from memory
