gear box eeeekk

wen i was driving gear box seemed to jam and before hand when i was driving it jumps out of gear no i have it on stands and the box seemes to turn fine by hand
any ideas if the box is gone ?? :S:S :? :( :shock:

a williams is a clio mk1, so yes, but what engine is in your current car ?

Williams also says F16.i.e but the 1.8 16 valve is a F7P, depending on reg could be a 722 or a 707 but most seem to be 722.

Williams is a F7R 700 engine, and yes the gear box will fit, will bolt stright on, but your gear ratios will be slightly different.

You can also use megane boxes and most of the Jb3 boxes from lower end clios.

How is the 1.9 box doing? Are the gears far off, do you get more to end and less accelaration?

its kinda more than an instructions job mate. alot involved. some people do it in diff ways but its a subframe off job imo

Exhaust needs re-sealing afterwards, power steering fluids needs replacing. clutches are hard to fit if you have never done one etc etc etc

best bet is to ask someone on the forum. iv charged 100 quid for the labour side of it on a valver before

but you dont need to take the exhaust off to swap a gear box and why power steering fluid

some people loosen the exhaust and drop one side of the subframe thus not removing the exhaust and losing any powersteering fluid. IMO however especially on abs models it leaves you a rats space to work with.

You may aswell change the clutch when you change a box. Whats the point in not doing so for the sake of 80 quid or whatever a new clutch is.

Fitting a new clutch is just un necesary agro so get it all done at once
