I have only had the valver back a month after a full engine rebuild it had been off the road prior to this for 16 months, got it home today and noticed a bit of smoke coming from the engine bay and a bit of a smell, traced the smoke to a lot of oil running along the gear linkage and on the cat. Obviously come from the gear box, any ideas whats wrong? The gearbox is only 2 years old - a reconditioned one from Renault and has only spent a year of that in use. Im hoping its not the diff as I really think that will spell the end of me and this car... Gutted...

If its 2 years old you still have warranty on it....

If I'm more specific the gearbox was bought in May 2006... Out of that the gearbox has had about a years usage.

Yeah it looks like its coming from the box, the speedo is still working so hopefully not the diff, taking it to the garage tomorrow for the diagnosis.

A gearbox that does not leak is rare lol, thats why they have their own drip tray :D

It could be the washer on the drain plug.

where is it coming from on the box?

They only seep a little out the slector arm this is due to basic physics, the fact the selector arm is position at the bottom of the box means gravity does its bit
