i have chance of a clio 1.8 16valve VERY cheap, but it has a problem-
the garage said the circlip has came off the driveshaft pin so it is undriveable.
What will it need to fix the problem?
a gearbox?
a driveshaft?
a new circlip?
where is the driveshaft pin?
how hard is it to fix?
any help would be much appreciated.
cheers
Diff Circlips inside the gearbox, it can be replaced by removing the n/s driveshaft and fitting a new circlip and washer?!?! be aware though as usually once they go once they dont stop going!
Take it the speedo goes up and down but nothing?

im not sure if the speedo goes up and down as the garage said the car is un-driveable and its sat at my mates house. I havent bought it yet just wondered how hard it was to fix and whether its worth buying.
what does this cir-clip do exactly? hold the shaft in the box?
I believe it stops the differential from coming out the crownwheel housing, causes you to loose drive, the very most you'll have to do is replace the gearbox, but thats the last resort if the circlip change doesnt sort it

fit a new circlip and get it welded in place.
4 spot welds does the trick
