Just decided to fire up the cup racer before the rally at the weekend but its spluttering and misfireing on part throttle under load. Then it wouldnt start (could smell fuel) at all then its started and would misfire upto 4k and part throttle but full throttle after 5k it was ok.

It did do it after the last rally when i drove it home but it cleared up by the time i got home. (fuel is at 3/4). Took it for a run and its just the same.

Help please need to get it sorted before the weekend.!!

Well it was doing it again this morning so set to work on having a look as it was night time when the problem happened.

Whipped the leads off and they where saturated in water...! looked into the plus holes and they where submerged in clear water (not coolant).

Cleanned them all off and is seem A OK...! Fingers crossed that was it as it always been 100% turn key no issues.

Just need to get everything else sorted now for the rally on Sunday at 3 Sisters.

Thanks to everyone for you help / advise.

If it's rained heavily then I guess water could have got in via the vent?

Plus if you jet wash all the crap off it after a rally..................

i've had this problem with two different things

1. Rocker cover gasket, leaking oil down onto plugs
2. Fuel pressure regulator

mine had a similar issue turned out to be the crank position sensor earth on the top of the gearbox. Worth checking.
