bah its a myth... bog standard car would be less that 2bhp difference - take the cds out the glovebox and your back to normal :D

no difference thats noticeable to me, and it just goes now instead of making a great racket, so imo feel quicker and improves overall driving experience as can concentrate on the road rather than the damn racket which imo doesnt sound very good, need a turbo and side exit before these lumps sing

And with a standard system you can actually hear all the other nasty noises going on!

jumping on this thread Guys,

I want to replace my exhaust with a new standard system.
Can anyone give me the part numbers please (I have a series 1 if that makes any difference).

also I don't have a CAT fitted and talking to my MOT man I will need one fitted for the MOT due in Apr 10.

Any part number for that please.

Once it is MOT'd is it worth removing the CAT and fitting a by-pass pipe or is it not worth it with a standard system?

Finally - is it worth changing the manifold at all or is the standard fitment fine as it is?

Thnaks,

Simon.

OEM system will be expensive, as will be a dealer supplied CAT (I've heard figures of £500 plus quoted!!) - look on e-bay, you can find a Williams CAT for around £100 new...

If you want to run a de-cat, then just get a second-hand one to put on for MOT time...

Lots of people run de-cats - apparantly it does give you slightly more power but effects low-down torque....

No need to replace the manifold or downpipe unless damaged......

www.onlineautomotive.co.uk for cheap standard exhaust! Around £140 cat back delivered iirc.

I may put my decat back on as I am missing the low down torque.
