View Full Version : Gunnerchip and Ph1 valver ECU
I was told reliably these would work together. Sourced am ECU, Sourced a Gunnerchip. Had it soldered.
Starter turns over, but wont start.
Not happy, £100 wasted and my excitment dashed :(
should do - thats all thats in mine - started first time?

Sadly not on mine. The ECU is a ph1 16v, looks clean on the inside from what I can tell, no scorches. Got it a few weeks ago, and a Gunnerchip, had it sent off again to get soldered about 10 days ago, got it this morning, tried after work just now after getting home.
Everything works except all you get is the starter turning over, but I think no fuel.
I busted my first one attempting to do it myself and that was the outcome - is it 100% soldiered correctly?
KJ16v himself did it and I am sure he is experienced enough not to **** it up.
is it worth changin the standard ecu? heard a few stories about the gunner chips making em run weird.

Ahh fair enough then :D
I've been running one for 6 months now and had no issues - although I can't tell you whats going on in there without looking
No noticable differences in the way the engine sounds - I do think it drinks more now though.

I tested my 16v on rolling road got 135hp ,then changed ecu to a box that was used in clio cup in sweden, i got 3hp and 1Nm from that box, so i dont think that a chip is the way to make more power..
Not really bothered about the power issue. What I am bothered about is the time trouble and money I go to for something that does not work.
Here is a nice pic. Is that a chip carrier?

you have the original chip to put back and test
had to be cut out but summeh and justin have ECU's they said I can try
cool mate got my fingers crossed for you
Should be able to troubleshoot the problem by swapping the chip over with various examples we have here.
Why oh why is nothing ever ****ing simple?

was the chip new or used?

I use it purely for the extra rev range

yes 600 more rpm.. my R5 does 75km/h in first, 110Km/in second and 150 km/h in 3rd with that box.... 8)
I wanted it for the rev range, and my addiction to pops and bangs.
Still feeling very dissapointed

its easily trouble shooted though Wobba...... it could simply be a bad program on the chip, as has been suggested, the chip carrier has been soldered in not the chip itself so just get hold of an original one or another gunner chip and see what happens...
if things were simple on cars, then there would be no satisfaction when its done! makes you appreciate it a little more dont you think?! lol
Well, Summeh has come to my rescue again and offered to test his chips in my ECU to diagnose which is at fault. Hope it's the chip tbh then I can get another and straight swap it over.
yea, I love fixing the car etc, but at mo I am knackered. Things annoy me easily when I am tired!
i'm going to try my gunnerchip in the turbos ecu on the williams this weekend and see what happens

did you test the ecu before you got the chip done..
