View Full Version : Subframe swap - how long a job?
Going to be swapping subframes this weekend.
Can anyone give me a rough idea how long its going to take me?
I'm hoping under a day but am a bit unsure...
can do it in a day mate if all bolts etc play ball and nothing strips/breaks
i stripped my whole front end down last time inc box and clutch/flywheel assembly in less than 3 hours inc brews and lunch break
Aye the bolts playing ball will be the big decider but that sounds an ok job time wise.
Will let you know how it goes.
Cheers! 8)
its advisable to get a couple of the rear subframe nut cages tho mate.....these will undoubtedly break.
3 hours coops??? wtf were u doing?? did u have both hands tied behind ur back n undid evrything with ur teeth?? ;)

Seriously though, what do I need to keep an eye out for when I do it?
rear 2 main mounting bolts, the nuts are inside the chassis legs so are held in place with captive cages, but they rust and can break, if they do the nut/bolt assemble spins and doesnt undo, its easy enough to wiggle out the remenants of the cage with a screw driver and get a spanner in there to counter hold it tho 8)
Odds are mine will have broken...can feel it in my water!
