View Full Version : Right then- chipwizard or clone chip?

Right then I wanna get the limiter upped on the banana and I'm undecided as to whether to go to chipwizard and have a full re-map with higher rev limit. Can sell the smt6 this way too to get some money back OR I think hill power can do a chip that will just raise the rev limit with out affecting the smt6...Now then with the chipwizard I'm risking the very good pull the car has at the mo, will probably be ok but I'm a bit paranoid! lol But the good point is the car will be mapped all the way to the limiter unlike the H/p chip which will merely raise the limiter not change the fueling after 6.5k...What do you reckon?

But im skint and going for a hillpower one, Mat said something about a chip/rolling road day.

go get the eeprom copied.. chips are about a quid
for a blank one.. how companies can charge £500 for a chip is beyond me..lol unless they spend the time mapping it of course.

Its fast

I'm trying to make it quicker Stromba and the 6.5k limit is real drag, I think it'll be much quicker with more revs to use. I'm leaning towards a simple rev limit switch...knowing my luck if I had it re-mapped it's probably end up slower!

^^^^^ Gotta agree with Stromba. Don't risk it.

20-02-2005, 23:28
should be nowt to risk if I just leave the current map and raise limiter..

tbh mate the smt6 is only mapped as far as 6500 innit?? if u just get a rev limit raised then the extra revs wont be mapped to suit..so could end up being no quicker anyway.....better off gettin a map to suit rev range and mods IMO

21-02-2005, 11:45
either leave it as is and live with the 6.5k mart or do what jon suggests as like you said you need it fuelling right for up to 7.2k, another 700rpm!

21-02-2005, 13:19
i reckon you only really need the upped limit for keeping it in 4th at york to cross teh line rather than changin to 5th!

22-02-2005, 21:12
monkey, tsurely martins chip can be cloned??? on eprom copier..lol..
need the numbers off the eprom...

22-02-2005, 22:49
Yeah I'm sure I could clone the EPROM to a bin file, just depends what size eprom it is 256, 512,1mb,2mb any one have a pic and the numbers I could check if anyone needed it doing?

23-02-2005, 16:23
Yeah I know King I had the willy done remember and........*whispers* it was slower after.. :(
