View Full Version : Cranks that fit Williams

I've tried to find any info regarding this with search function, but I couldn't find anything usable.

The question is, which cranks are straight swap for Willy item and which ones need any modifications to fit. I've heard about diesel one (would need engine code) and I've read once about K4M (iirc that's 1.6 16V --> I find it strange that this fits). So what's true? While I'm replacing half of my engine (again) I could also swap my crank, because I'm already using 2nd oversize shells. :? I'm not paying for new crank from Renault and around here Williams cranks are as rare as diamonds. Postage costs from GB are also too expensive, so I must source a crank that was fitted to more "trivial" models...

Cheers

the diesel crank is taken from the F8Q but it needs to be from a early diesel model or mk1 clio etc as they used a different crank on newer models

Is Renault Express F8Q engine ok? Up to which model year will it be ok?

What about K4M crank? Is that true or just a misinformation?

Yes, Express (Extra) van should fit.

Why I don't live in England?!? There's abundance of parts!

Well, I want to ask if it fits from R5 diesel engine? And up to which year cranks from Clio diesel fit?

What is actually different, pictures anyone?

And does K4M crank fit (1.6 16V engine from newer meganes?)

Cheers

from my records of F8Q's fitted to clios

Clio I ph1 & 2: F8Q 640 730 732
Clio I ph3: F8Q 640 676 678 692 696 732

Clio II: F8Q 630 632

so if it's the earlier ones, you need a ph1/2 car and probably F8Q 640 730 or 732 engine code - or a ph3 running a 640 or 732 engine

These have chassis codes of B57I, B576, 657H, 557W and 657H, B/C/S57L respectively

If someone with dialogys fancies checking that... ;)

I've also got 14 variations of the K4M listed for the clio...

Well first of all I'd like someone to confirm that K4M crank fits williams, otherwise its useless. If it fits, please list those 14 variations!

Which megane? F7R? Because I already have megane BE! My engine is F7R 710 with williams head.

MAXIBOY

Think the F7R 710 iirc...

F7R 714 is updated megane bottom end with chain driven oil pump but 6 kg's lighter

MAXIBOY
08-09-2008, 20:37
yeah your post claims willy engine which is F7R 700 as standard

robi1000
09-09-2008, 00:26
Well I thought it's the same... So is there any difference in compatibility? As far as I know there shouldn't be? At least not with 710. I think it's the same as 700 engine. Belt driven pump.

MAXIBOY
09-09-2008, 12:39
there compatable but the latter megane has a better crank than the willy

robi1000
09-09-2008, 16:06
That's 714 you refer to? Or do later 710 models also have better crank?

MAXIBOY
09-09-2008, 16:33
later 710 also mate

robi1000
09-09-2008, 17:41
And how do I distinguish the two? Is there a way?

Oszy

I use Clio I 1.9D crank (F8Q)
no modification was necessary, exactly same

Oszy, I informed Robi :D. I was not sure that you had bought the crankshaft for about 40000 HUF 3 or 4 years ago. Danee checked its price yesterday, a genuine one is 193000 HUF + VAT now :S.

white16valver
10-09-2008, 16:54
I don't know how much 193000HUF is but it sounds a fortune!! lol

stan
10-09-2008, 17:20
probably about £3

The diesel cranks are 1.5kg lighter, and have fillet rolled journals...so all in a better item.

Yanoo_
10-09-2008, 17:39
193000 HUF is about £645, the exchange ratio used to be about £1 / HUF 295-305

is that all ?

i rang up renault last week asked how much a valver crank was, they quoted 1700+vat :/

robi1000
10-09-2008, 19:04
Yup. I think crank is the only engine component that's actually cheaper then valver one.

richy
10-09-2008, 19:10
lol sounds about right!!

i use a 1.9 f8q diesel crank in my 2.0 aswell

Oszy

stan

This is my everyday car:

http://www.renaultclub.hu/talikepek/2008-05-23%20Sosto/oszy/88/pic11.jpg

R19 1.9D F8Q, so it has the same crank as my williams, but only has 49Kw at the flywheel :))))

robi1000
11-09-2008, 14:30
Rip it apart for parts and give me your crank! :muahaha:

Oszy
11-09-2008, 14:36
:)))

mate! this car take me every day to work since 1990, it has 300000km, and the engine had never need a repaire, just oil change, and belt change :))

But I think it is easy to find a crank like that! do you need me to chek it for you?

robi1000
11-09-2008, 15:56
Please do!

Hi Robi!

Is some chrashed or, rusty R19 1.9D for sale? I find some in Hungary for 270pound. The whole car!
maybe you can find some in your country as well?
In these cars the crank is never touched or re-worked normally. It has 4oversize possibilities...(maybe it is not undarstandable in english :))
So anyhow! you can buy a full car for 270pound, or you can ask the seller only for the engine.

Oszy

Oszy
15-09-2008, 09:46
I find one for 160pound.
Condition unknown, because it is still in the engine, but normally ok :)

robi1000
15-09-2008, 09:49
Ask him how much would he like to have for the engine. I've no space for another car (and to be honest I don't even know what to do with it).

robi1000
15-09-2008, 09:50
160 for engine only or the whole car? How many km that engine has?

Oszy

160 is for the engine only and He will not take it out, but I can do it for you. The car stops since a year ago, it should have about 200,000Km, witch is not a problem for these engines.
It is relatively near to my home :)
