Titanic special edition eh

Can't see those missions liking that floor - I had to carpet my room just to get decent imaging!

4 disc special edition mate  cant get enough of the jack and rose love story lol   missions are a bastard with the wooden floor but not much i can do about it, trying to get decent bass from the rel is nigh on impossible

What amp have you got? can't quite tell from here - with me back in my old room at my mums I've only got my 751 freedoms up an running - I need a house!!!

its an old amp, probably the only thing that REALLY needs changing with all the new sounds out now via hdmi. anyway its a Denon avr 3802, was a top amp back in its day, full 7.1 with 105w rms x7. i payed £950 for it new about 6 years ago. the new one avr 3808 is about the same price but i wont be spending that again. will go for the 2808 ( £550-£650 ) as it has all the new hd sound formats and is same power as mine :D

I had to let all mine go a few years ago when I need the money - I used to work part time in a hi fi shop so I used to get an awesome discount..

When I buy the house I'll be getting all my Exposure stuff back or maybe a Quad setup - still blows me away listening to an exposure amp

I've got a Cyrus 1 running through my pc and 751's - its not half as bad as I expected it to be - mind you I didn't cheap out on the soundcard

hehe. was never really into the soft sounding missions. i preferred my tannoy 633 profile + es, has been a good while since i had mine all set up tbh, i had a severe power surge that melted all the speaker units, and blew the crossovers to bits, even meltin the btm of the speaker to the carpet. lol.

yamaha dsp, rotel pre/power amps, marantz cd63(bought before the se or ki sig came out) as u can tell was a while ago lol.

how much was the seat btw? cool edition to the set up.

Daz.
25-08-2008, 16:54
I used to sell KI Sig's thought they were average sounding - I used to have rotel pre powers - could never quite afford to monoblock the mofo's!

they were the dogs at the time, and no i couldnt monoblock either lol, had to make do with bi-amping ;)

I gave up when I moved house and realised I needed 4 lots of 6 metre cable at £11 a metre!!

the seat looks cool but surely its hard to get to the pedals with the bar there?

Guys, you seem to know your audio stuff, wtf is all this bi-wireable malarky??

bi-wireable, in leymans terms, means u can use 2 amps to run 1 speaker, 1 amp for the bass, 1 for mid/treble.

some speakers can run 1 amp per unit, 1 for sub, 1 for mid, 1 for treble.(this is tri-wiring)

monoblocking, basically turns the amp from stereo to mono, therefore needing twice as many amps. 1 amp per unit(sub/mid/tre) on each speaker. 1 set of speakers that are tri-wirable will run 6 amps in mono.

if 2 amps are used, usinr 2 outputs from 1 amp and 1 from the other. can also be done with 3 amps, tri-amping

middle of the riad compared to my old setup - I was in so much debt I had to sell it all a few years ago

bedroom system is now my main one for a while i'm afraid, Exposure CD player, Cyrus 1 amp (old skool! 8) ) and my trusty 751 freedoms :D

i liked a bit of bass with mine. the missions i found always sounded very tinny compared to the big hitting tannoys. went through quite a few sets of kefs back then tho too lol...coda 7s....great as rears shite as mains lol.

love my bass aswell hence the rel q150e  :D my setup is more geared toward av surround sound so the missions are perfect imo, not the best for outright stereo but brilliant at surround sound effects etc. recently upgraded my amp from the denon to a hi-def yamaha so now get all the new surround sounds aswell ( dts-hd ma, dolby true hd etc etc ). maybe changing the tv aswell to a 46" but depends weather my mate gets the money together for mine  ....

steering wheel and seat has been brilliant tho lol :D

yeah i blasted a hole in many of em lol. got the first few replaced free of charge. after the 4th set iirc i had to start paying for their repair.

thats when i moved up to the 633s which in turn melted a while later

I've always been a B&W man.... had some Tannoy Eclipse's back in the day though.... I've worked my way up from CDM 1's to CDM 1SE's to my current beasts, 703's.... Missions have always had a reputation for being bright....

you've never auditioned the freedoms then, they fixed it, then broke it again with the next models they did!

751, 752, 753, 754 freedoms were the business in the 90's

all in the ears of the buyer, and the type of usage they want them for tbh.

my mate found the tannoys too bassy, the missions too light, kefs i advised were too unreliable, altho gave good sound, the b&w s always impressed tbh, but iirc they were too dear for the floorstanders at the time. he settled for accoustic energy jobbies,

has been a while since i was into audio tbh, but had a quick listen to a few kef sets an d bose in comet earlier. sounded a bit flat tho tbh, didnt seem to deliver the gut turning punch they once did.(the kefs) and the bose seemed very lite.

took me 20 years to finally get to a level where I am happy with the sound I have.... hifi starts to get very expensive when you get into the law of diminshing returns....

agreed - after what I DID have this is nowhere near good enough for me - after you've heard hi-end you can't go back, it's like watching a blu-ray now and then popping in the video version you taped off bbc1 - you can't do it!

And yet some people have commented that its the nicest system they've heard, but they've been used to clock radios or cheap all in ones...

like 2 live said all about your tastes, music quality is a bit like choosing a woman!
