Never had any problems with hammerite, just make sure you clean em well first

I thought they would be gold, I know they are on valvers so I assume willy calipers are the same as valver ones

SURELY std caliper colour for valvers isnt gold? I wasnt sure about silver hammerite, but my calipers have faded i think, and a mate said std theyre a nice shiny silver to kinda match the wheel rim, and suggested hammerite. all for the original std look me! :)
dont worry lunner ill clean em good un. :)

Then you shouldn't be painting them at all :D

Brand new calipers are GOLD, I don't know what they are covered with but they are definately a shade of gold - not one I reckon you could simulate either - just do them silver or black if you don't want to have to do them again in time.

Most cars these days come out of the showroom with silver calipers so I'm happy to follow suit.

This is yellow passivating plating

If you strip the caliper down you can get it replated

The rear caliper is alloy so the caliper carrier was silver too http://www.dtmotorsports.com/diy/caliper-rebuild/caliper-silver.jpg
