Rather than rip the engine out of one for my clio.............. are they actually that bad to drive?

I'm just thinking if I get a nice coupe with a 50mm drop and some "dieting" it might drive rather well.

Anyone had the pleasure of owning one?

nice cars and drive well, but the interiors fall apart on them big time. like ph1 valver seats ;/

I've had a megane before...not a coupe, just a 1.6 hatch but it was lowered.

Handled brilliantly so with 2ltr power a coupe should be rather nice.

Be aware though, build quality isn't any better than a clio in fact is worse IMO. I've also heard the 2ltr gear ratios aren't ideal either.

PM Andyvalver. he's got one, last i spoke to him he'd only had one problem with it, what it was tho i cant remember tho but it was something to do with corroded terminals

IMO you'd be better off asking over on RSC as there is a quite a few on that owners club

my mate has one that we rebuilt the engine in, its quick but as std handled very poorly tbh, its now lowered on a spax kit(cant remeber which) and handles miles better, but def not as playable as the clio 16v/williams.

i agree with susp defo needs lovwering, the reason i went for clio this time is theres more parts/tuning goodies more widely available. the lastone i had was cammed and i got 38mpg on a run

I had one mate. Nice little cars, just not as fun as a williams, feel a lot heavier as you'd expect, and quite predicatble. Mine was totally standard too.

The meganes aint that bad but tgey are nowhere near as much fun as a clio 16v or williams. They are a bit like a boat when it comes to corners tbh lol. They are good for straight line blasting and imo the 2.0 meg is quicker than a valver. Not to 60 put with the 2.0 it seems to go better from 70 onwards. I like mine just as a car to drive from A to B because they are a lazy drive with the low down grunt of the 2.0. If you want fun and twistys stick the 2.0 in a clio :P
